Have you ever been on a forum where the staff come in and repeat what has already been said by other staff members.

Examples:

  • If someone has broken a rule and a couple staff members come in to tell them they broke the rule.
  • If someone posts a feedback topic and several staff come in and say the same answer.
  • If someone asks a question and staff come in and give the same answer over and over again.

Ive seen this several times and its rather annoying. Ive even had it happening on an old forum. I told the staff that if one person is handling a situation then let them handle it. Nobody needs to go in and repeat or make the member feel like they are being ganged up on.

Oh yes.

On a PAY forum I joined for a short time, I had three different staff and one Admin send me emails and messages talking about a rule I'd unknowingly broken. Only then to find out that others were allowed to do the same thing.

When asked, the staff didn't read their own thread to see who was doing what.

As far as the selective enforcement of the rules, they ignored those questions.

I have seen this happen on a few forums during my time of foruming. It's rather annoying. Examples:

Oh yes, it might be added

I think it'll be added. Let's wait and see what so-and-so says

Yes. We will be adding it -That one is usually said by the main owner or co-administrator.

That's kind of a bad example, but the first two quotes I posted are perfect examples, and those can come from either members or the staff members, which ever comes first.

Agreed. It happened a bunch back at this support forum I used to be staff on. They'd always repeat what I said, or they'd change it up a bit, but it'd be basically the same thing, except reworded. I always laughed at it, because it was so pointless since it was a free, volunteer position, even if you do look good, there's no advancement.
