I've noticed this happening way to much.

People request to be staff and then after 2 or 3 weeks leave because they can't commit or have lost interest.

Its very annoying when your on a promotion site and this keeps happening.

And i've noticed its the same people doing it on different forums. I tell the admin but he still hires them!! and then moans when they leave :/

Anyway has this happened on your forum? Have you seen this on others?

I've seen many forums with a thread specifically for announcing staff changes. They have staff that join one day, leave the next and then they have announce new staff.

Yeah, it's very common tbh, that's why it's always better to hire people you know well or people from within your established community.

I agree with this 100%

I concur entirely.

Tips to avoid such people.

1. Don't use applications

2. Don't base hiring decisions on post count but rather how much they contribute to the board and the quality of posts.

3. Don't hire from outside of your forum.

4. Don't hire newbies to your forum. Hire people who been around a few months at least to gauge behavior on your board as well as post quality and how they contribute to your board via posting topics and quality replies to discussions.

If you do the above then the chances of having someone take a job then leave soon after will greatly reduce.
