A stuntman died after falling 200 ft when a ââ¬Ëwing walkingââ¬â¢ trick went wrong in front of thousands of people at an air show in Michigan, US, on Sunday.
The crowd of 75,000 thought the plunge was part of the stunt on the airstrip at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Michigan. Todd Green had attempted a daring mid-flight grab onto the landing skid of a helicopter hovering above the Stearman aircraft he was standing on.
Ambulances at the air show took him to a nearby hospital but he died from injuries sustained. Green was said to have successfully completed the stunt a day before when practising for the Selfridge Air Show. He was an experienced daredevil with 25 years of aerial stunts behind him, colleagues have said.
Officials at the base are working with the Federal Aviation Administration to investigate the fall. Greenââ¬â¢s father, Eddie ââ¬ËThe Gripââ¬â¢ Green, was a notorious wing walker - named by the International Council of Air Shows Foundation as ââ¬Ëthe most experienced air show stuntman of all timeââ¬â¢.
