Subtitles

Rarely. You cant really enjoy a movie if you are constantly reading the bottom of the screen and not paying attention to whats happening above that.

Lol I watch it if it's not in english.. like Apocalypto is not in english so I watched it with the subtitles XD I never really mind

With foreign films, yeah. I hate watching, for example, Japanese movies with dubbing. The dubbing for Spirited Away and My Neighbour Totoro was shitty, so I went for how it was intended to be viewed.

Yeah I agree with Sam. I use them nowadays only if it's a foriegn language like German WW2 films seem more appropiate to listen in German

TBH, it drives me crazy. If I want to read then I'll go read a good book.

I hate friggin Subtitles...it sucks because especially over here. They don't just have the normal English subtitles they have also the Arabic subtitles on EVERY movie

I agree with that. Especially if it happens to be an Anime in Japanese.

I'm Dutch. We're a culture that, instead of lip-synching every movie or tv-series, just subtitle it.

As such, I'm extremely used to it, and the first thing I do in every game or DVD is look for the subtitles option. I prefer English subtitles over Dutch though, that way I don't miss any of the jokes that would otherwise get lost in translation.

I have to watch with subtitles or close captioning I've no choice.

No it pisses me off

Ha, how things change in 4 years or so.
I probably watch films with subtitles 90% of the time.  Stuff on Netflix i just can not hear for some reason.  I also watch alot of foreign films these days.
Dvds usually have quite a good volume setting, but sometimes i will put them on.

Same with games, i always turn the subtitles on.

Once upon a time I thought I'd never get used to subtitles and refused to watch foreign films.

Silly me!

xD funny answers from all these native english speakers. Basically almost every major movie is in a "foreign language" (aka english) for me so yes, 99% of the movies or even tv shows I watch will have subtitles.
