Do you find swearing to be improper? Why or why not?

I don't care if people swear but, IMO, there’s a time and place for it and you need to consider your audience.

There is a time and place for it, I think it's fine to show frustration/anger but not to attack someone.

I try to keep it clean. Sometimes I don't do a very good job lol

It's improper in some instances and in some locations. I have friends who swear like sailors and they're some of the best people I know :)

What would you do if you heard your children swearing?

The first time my daughter swore in front of me (she was probably 20) she stopped and looked at me to see if I would react. I didn't, so she kept on with her conversation.

Like others have said, time & place. Don't do it around children. Yeah, they already probably know more swear words than adults do, but that's besides the point! I swear but not overly. Sometimes "Gosh golly gee" when you stub your toe just doesn't have the same effect lol

I don't mind the odd swearing ?
but when it used excessive or when person is bad is when I hate it

I don't see any problem whatsoever with it. They're just words; they only have power if you give it to them.

I don't swear very often and when I do, it's in casual conversation with a close friend to drill in my point about something (sometimes "ass" and "shit" does the job where exclamations marks would be in conversation lol). I definitely discourage any type of swearing around my daughter, children have no business swearing and I don't think it's cute at all when kids do even if they don't mean it or really understand what they're saying.

I think it is obvious that it is a bad thing. Even if the people claimed to be just expressions to be used, they are still not accepted to be good ones.
