The 2026 Winter Olympic Games (Milan, Italy. February 6th, 2026 - February 22nd, 2026)

Has anyone watched on Peacock? I'm definitely enjoying the multiview channels.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) and US Anti-Doping (Usada) are at loggerheads again after fresh reports that more Chinese athletes – one of whom is swimming at the Paris Olympics – have been cleared using a contaminated meat defence.

In a separate incident to the doping inquiry involving 23 Chinese swimmers that emerged in April, the New York Times reported that Tang Muhan and He Junyi both tested positive after eating french fries, Coca-Cola and hamburgers at a Beijing restaurant in October 2022. However the Chinese Anti-Doping Agency (Chinada) subsequently ruled that the steroid came from contaminated meat from a burger and cleared both men. Tang is now expected to compete for China in the relay on Thursday.

Wada confirmed that the two swimmers had tested positive for “trace amounts” of metandienone in October 2022 – but said it was part of a wider number of positive tests in China involving meat contamination.
With officials like WADA allowing doping to go on like this, we might as well let the Russians back in....

China's ALWAYS doped during these events. Matter of fact, China's ALWAYS involved in some kind of controversy during the Olympics in general.

Anyway, this thread wasn't made for negative posts, its about the actual event itself. BMX is coming on soon, and I'm disappointed it hasn't been on television until right now.

Against all odds, the Canadian women's soccer team won all three games and made the quarterfinals. It'll be something if they end up getting a medal yet.

Yay, go Canada!

Meanwhile a Brit wins the trap shooting gold? Gotta' love it, lol.

Well, the Canadian women got eliminated by Germany in the quarter finals of soccer, so no medal for them. :coffee:

In other news, a Canadian dude won the men's hammer throw yesterday. He's my new favourite person. :D

Theyre showing the quarterfinal match in Handball between Germany and France and this games been pretty entertaining so far.

A Canadian won the women's hammer toss, so Canada got double gold in that event.

A Canadian got a bronze in women's pole vault, which is Canada's first ever medal in that event. We also made the final in women's beach volleyball, so that's pretty nifty.

I had high hopes for Andre De Grasse but he was unable to make the final in both the 100m and the 200m. It sounds like he's been nursing a hamstring injury, so that sucks. Both our men's and women's teams made their finals in the 100m relay so maybe we can pull something out of the bag there.

A guy from Botswana upset the Americans to win the gold in the men's 200m. Noah Lyles (USA) was going for double gold in the 100m and 200m but got the bronze in this race. After the race they said he'd tested positive for Covid after winning the 100m so perhaps he wasn't 100% for the 200m.

I also watched an American absolutely ANNIHILATE the competition in the women's 400m hurdles today.

The Canadian men pulled a gold medal out of their bag in the 4x100m relay. Freaking awesome race! Exchanges were smooth and no mistakes. South Africa got silver and Great Britain got bronze. The Americans had issues and finished 7th...then got disqualified for a bad baton exchange.

Glad to see Ms. Griner realize how much better America is as a country compared to Russia. *adds deadpan* Shame we couldn't've sent a few other idiots (Colin, Megan, looking at you two dopes!) there to wake them the hell up.

I watched enough of it to say this.

It was a good Olympics.

However. NBC proved once again they have learned nothing from their own history and seized the opportunity to interrupt live sporting events with both paid commercials and self-promotion spots (most of which were for shows that will likely be canceled before Halloween) and ran with it to the logical extreme.

I HATED that. Commentary would be in mid sentence during an event and it would abruptly cut to commercial, or sometimes an event wouldnt even be over and theyd do it. That being said I loved it. Ill be changing the title to reflect the winter games since those too will soon be upon us.

What were your favourite moments from these Olympics? Biggest disappointments?

My favourite, hands down, was the men's 4x100m relay. That was just so awesome and I keep watching replays to relive the glory. :D Honourable mentions to both the men's and women's hammer throws.

My biggest disappointment was basketball. Both Canadians teams were expected to do well. The women tanked right out of the gate and didn't make it anywhere near the medal round. The men started well but lost when it counted most.

Why not just make a new thread for the winter Olympics?

i figured it would make better sense to keep it all to one specific thread
