The Beat vs. The Lyrics

What do you care about more in music? The beat or the lyrics?

Truly good music doesn't compromise one for the other; however, if I had to choose, it's the message, not its package, so to speak.

For me it's the lyrics. So many times I wanted to tell someone how I felt but I couldn't find the right words. I could, however, find just the right song lyrics to express my feelings.

I'm more for the lyrics most times. But on occasion, a beat may not match up well with the lyrics and ruin the song.

I'm not sure. I've heard good songs with crappy lyrics that I like but I've also heard song with beats I don't like and I end up linking the song

It depends on the song. Some songs I love the sound, and hate it for the lyrics, and some songs I just like it for lyrics.

Depends what mood I'm in. If it's just casual listening then I go for a good beat. But if I'm a bit depressed and need a little pick-me-up then the lyrics are more important.
