The owner is missing

Yes, but not exclusively just a forum. It was the very first chatroom/forum I had been invested in and a regular of. I think most of us found out that Outblaze sold the company or whatever to somebody and it shut down. Sailormoon.com was my very first time I even got into other anime outside the CN/Toonami spear and roleplayed a bit.

Small aside, I used to make themes for Invisionfree, and one time, I made a series of themes that were simple and straightforward. They were simple, but they were my first. I remember the support forum for Invisionfree where I had been a member three years and had accrued 2,000 posts deleted my account without a warning at all. Blew my mind.
Did you know that @Cory (https://jcodes.jcink.net/index.php?) has resurrected a bunch of Z-board (and maybe some IF) themes for use on Jcink boards?

Everything Invisionfree, Zetaboards, and IPBFree is gone-zo, I believe. I was pretty hurt when my old forum fell off the face of the Earth without warning.

Well invisionfree and zetaboards forum content is still online they've just converted to Tapatalk. Looks like IPBFree is still online too: https://ipbfree.com/ (website doesn't seem to be fully functional though).

Yes. There's an anime forum that I joined back in 2008 that does this even though the owner still pays on everything. He just doesn't log in for several months.

Weird. Is the forum active?

Barely. It's not even worth the time going on because it's either spam or people wanting to buy translations (scanlations) for Japanese Manga that isn't translated in English by a US company which is a copyright violation.

Does it have ads? Wonder why the owner keeps it afloat and dumping money into if its dead and he isn't involved anymore?

I have no clue. It's been sold once already. The former owner who had it was a complete asshole and lives in Wales. He always complained that he couldn't work due to a mental illness. He never explained how he was getting his funding for the forum. He ended up selling it to a friend of his. He still remains there on staff. He runs off anyone who doesn't agree with him. You say anything he doesn't like, he slaps you with a warning or a short term ban. I'm glad I left.

Sounds like a toxic place. Glad you got out of there.

It's disappointing because the most of the members on there were nice. Just not the owner. He would just dog you if you said anything that offended him.

Thats the worst. I hate when people use their "power" to intimidate the members.

Ahh, I used to be part of a gaming community. Few months ago visited the place and logged in I see the forum completely dead. Looked at the staff team no staff members lmfao! It's weird and scary if you think about abandoning a huge community and disappearing without saying a word.

Hopefully everyone is okay! Sometimes people disappear because something goes horribly wrong in their personal lives.

And went back to a PM convo with somebody who was super willing to let me take over their forum etc but they went AWOL. I went back to the board recently and there's like zero staff presence there. I sooo wish this person would have given me the board....

Not been on since August of last year, sadly. It was a mental health forum too and that topic/subject I support and like. Well, anxiety, but still.

It looks like it is IPBFree 2 now, as in, they scrapped all the original forums, i.e. mine.

Shout out to anyone who can run that sort of forum. It must be emotionally draining sometimes to talk about such a hard subject day in and day out.

Aww, that sucks.

It pisses me off when admins just disapear. It's sad for the loyal members too who waited years for them to come back and update the site but sadly they never did. Of course I am referring to one the original social networks (communities.com) but you get my point!

That place has been a ghost town for years and the admins never came back. Half of the site's features no longer even work due to out of date scripting. Was a great site at one time and still could be if the owners would take interest in it and update it but they probably never will.

Yup, That's happened too often IMO. I've made it a mission to check the last login and/or post date of several staff members before deciding to either register to the forum, or if profiles are private until logged in, I'll sign up and if the staff appear to be MIA, i simpyl won't return to said forum and make sure I won't receive any emails from said forum.

SMF is better than MyBB yeah I said that! :P MyBB is meh, I mean it's better than phpBB but not as good as SMF. Anyways back on topic! (Shocking I know!) xD If I see that the staff hasn't logged into their accounts in a long time, I just won't bother to join.
