The Israel-Palestine conflict has been raging on for decades and there seems to be no end in sight.

On July 8, 2014, Israel launched operation Protective Edge, carrying out airstrikes on 50 cities in the Palestinian Gaza Strip. The Israeli government claimed this was retaliation against rockets fired from Palestinian territories controlled by the Islamic political movement Hamas.

The July events are the latest of a series of bloody attacks between Israel and Palestine. What is the cause of all this violence and why are both sides so committed to it?

My thoughts is that people need to careful about the truth behind information. For example the above map is basically complete false.
Palestine was not 'country' it was tribal land made up of Arabs, Jews and Christians. All the land shown in the map was also taken and owned and different times by Jordan, Egypt and other empires.

just like how israel was never a country but people's land of the palestinians?

it was only recently that the jewish people dominated that land, before the u.n. illegally created israel when there were the minority by a major margin...
