Threads with just links

When you see a thread with just a link and a very short description such as Very Interesting. You should check this out. Do you bother to click the link to find out what the thread is all about?

No I don't, If the person can't be bothered to write a sentence on the topic, then I can't be bothered to look.

Nope, if they want people to check it out then they could at least quote some of the topic.

^ I think that is partly the reason why those threads are so empty.

I am under the belief that there is a direct correlation between the amount someone cares about something and the time someone took to explain what the topic is about. The less effort put into a topic, the less likely people are going to care about the topic and what the person is trying to convey. This is probably why most threads that Headliner posts get ignored because the perceived effort is so low that few are willing to care about the topic at hand.



Headliner of course has an excuse of being just a bot but when people make posts that sound like Headliner posted them is where you have no excuse for your laziness and should not expect anyone to bother with the topics posted by such a person.

Agree with all statements made so far in this thread. It drives me nuts when someone (other than Headliner) just puts a link. I don't bother to click the link because they didn't bother enough to give me a reason to click it.

If it can rouse enough interest with just that link, sure.

Sometimes we get something else in there. Something a little more obscure, or something really big.

Nope. Can't stand those stupid kinds of post. To me, it's not even contributing to the forum. I have told my staff if they see anything like that, that they remove it.

I agree. To me it makes the forum look bad to be cluttered with frivoulous one line posts.

And I'll try to put some sort of description of what it is from now on.



But, usually I'm in the middle of something else and come across something interesting and want to post it before I get too far down the road and forget to do it at all.

It would seem that a lot of posts on any given forum are simply filling space.
