(The Guardian) Trump to award Charlie Kirk a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom
Standing outside the Pentagon on Thursday morning for the memorial services marking the 24th anniversary of the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks, Donald Trump opened his remarks by addressing the assassination of right-wing activist and close ally, Charlie Kirk on Wednesday.

Trump announced that he will be soon awarding Kirk a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom. “The date of the ceremony will be announced, and I can only guarantee you one thing, that we will have a very big crowd,” the president said.

Kirk, Trump said, was a “giant of his generation, a champion of liberty and an inspiration to millions and millions of people”.

“Our prayers are with his wonderful wife, Erika and his beautiful children, fantastic people they are,” Trump added. “We miss him greatly, yet I have no doubt that Charlie’s voice and the courage he put into the hearts of countless people, especially young people, will live on.”

What is the stipulation for earning such an award? I mean, I'm conservative but to me, the Republicans are going a bit overboard in my own personal opinion. It's sad that Charlie died the way he did and at such a very young age! It's awful and horrific. Yet, it's all I'm seeing in my feeds and is this push to try to help Republicans rise above Democrats right now? There are a great many Liberals who aren't saying very nice things and that could come back to bite them later.
