Utterly pointless

Arguing or discussing something with someone who just wants to be right or justified in their "on the surface" thinking when there is logic to prove them wrong. It's like trying to convince a drunk person that they are indeed drunk and need to lay down before they hurt themselves. They rarely ever concede.
"Chit chat", "Small talk", "Idle conversation", "Just talking".
Voting republican "or" democrat...
Voting on a national level in general. It's a facade to make it look like your vote counts, but really it's the money that counts and most of us average citizens don't have that kind of influence.

When I was still dating I found it utterly pointless to date anyone who I would not consider marrying. Not that I would get that close to anyone even yet but I thought it pointless since I eventually do want someone special in my life full time, it just takes time to get to know someone. But I always thought what an utterly pointless thing.
People with high-end smartphones from 2014 (Galaxy S5, Note 4, Xperia Z3) who ARE doing the switch to the new S6, especially its Edge version. What's the point here? The S6 lacks of IP67 certification, microSD expansion, removable battery and I'll bet some apps won't run properly on it, but on the S5 those work just fine without the LP update. If their phone works, then there's really no point to do that EXCEPT if their current driver is a JB-powered phone that didn't get 4.4, like the international Galaxy S3 from three years ago.

Since the beginning of time, there has NEVER been a statement, argument or thought presented by one side of the debate to a member of the other side of the debate that made a participant say, "Oh. WOW. I see your point; I'm going to consider that and see how - if at all - it effects my opinion on the matter."
It is the one topic I will NEVER discuss in an online forum or in a real world conversation; it is "utterly pointless".
