Video of the Metrodome roof collapse

Now they can host the winter Olympics.

Incredible video. Thank goodness the crew that was up there trying to keep the snow off had to leave due to high winds. Glad nobody was hurt but I find it rather stupid to have an inflatable roof to begin with. They are very lucky this didn't happen sooner with a packed stadium.

when did that happen?.......doesnt look the best of designs for a place that gets heavy snowfall

Yeah, that's what I've always thought about the Metrodome: Why does it have an inflatable (and ultimately pop-able and collapsable) roof?! I'm guessing it was a budget decision, but with the kind of weather that Minnesota gets, it seems like a no-brainer to have a solid roof, or just off with it, and have a stadium (the Bears can handle an open stadium, so I don't think it would be too harsh of a difference a little more North).
