Do you ever do volunteering for charities? Why? I am going to start mostly to gain new skills.

Years ago I volunteered at a retirement home for a school project but I stuck around for a few weeks after my time was served because the people there were so cool. :)

I've never done volunteer work for charities, but I do volunteer at local places such as animal shelters.

What do you do there and what other local places have you volunteered at? :)

I feel like I'm needing to take advantage of it. I'm currently having issues social-wise and this is the only way for me to be known for doing something that'll make others satisfied.

I am a regular volunteer.
It is important to be involved in your community, it is what makes it a community.

I volunteer and have for years at my local nursing home. It's very rewarding and the seniors and I have great fun. Some of them think that I am their daughter and that's fine with me. A lot of the seniors there have family that never bother to come and visit them despite only living an hour away.

We had done so much volunteer work that we started to get burned out.

In our current situation, we cannot commit to do anything or be anywhere more than a day out, so we can't do it.

And we've come to miss doing some of it.

Once the situation is resolved, we intend to become active that way again.

I used to volunteer to do work for a church I attended years ago back in 2002, like mowing the lawn and picking up garbage, vacuuming and cleaning the inside of the church. That sort of thing.
