Anytime scumbags like this can be put in there place it is a good day.
During a contentious interview on Lebanon’s Al Jadeed TV, a London-based Islamist scholar attempted to belittle and shut down a female news anchor, telling her to “shut up” and declaring that “it’s beneath me to be interviewed by you.” We say “attempted” because she put an end to it in a hurry.
The host, Rima Karaki, began by asking Hani al-Sebai if he had any information suggesting Christians could ever join Islamic groups. When the scholar rambled on about what has happened in the past, the host tried to get him to focus on the “present,” which is what sparked the ensuing tension.
After some heated crosstalk, Sebai barked, “Are you done? Shut up so I can talk.”
“How can a respected sheikh like yourself tell a TV host to shut up?” Karaki asked.
“I am respected whether you like it or not,” the Islamist scholar shot back. “It’s beneath me to be interviewed by you. You are a woman who…”
Fed up with her guest, Karaki then had Sebai’s microphone cut and quickly ended the interview. The clip of her standing up to the man has now gone viral. Watch below via MEMRI:
