Well, when not in society a sane individual is not necessarily evil but when in society (evil) even a sane individual must be evil in order to compete and survive. That's the real truth.

Competition is healthy for people. It encourages us to put ourselves out there and risk failure and success. There is a new trend to shield children from competition because their feelings may get hurt if they lose. How could this possibly benefit our children? If children never learn how to lose when they are young then how do they handle adulthood where life if wrought with difficulties: eliminated job positions, relationships that go south, lost tennis matches, and financial trouble? The goal is to prepare our children for adulthood so that they can face life head-on with guts and not crumble at failure. We want to teach our children to tackle life with gusto.

You do know that a debate is a competition in which different people take their opinions and compete with others to win them over so if competition is so terrible then why are you involved in what could easily be seen as a competition?



The problem lies in when you value winning over sportsmanship. It is just as important to win as to remain classy while doing so. I really don't believe you have to give up being sportsmanlike to win at anything.



Mental illness is a problem and it is our inability to properly identify who can and can't own a gun or who should or shouldn't be forcibly admitted to a mental health hospital and how we go with sharing that information with others is an issue we need to address.
