Well i have to ask, were you introduced to Styx by your parents? That's how it works with most of the young guys I've worked with when they play old music. Of course it might be Pick On Old People Day. I saw Styx in concert 47 years ago.

@riseabovethis I introduced to Styx myself. I've seen their music videos on MTV Classic in the past.

Halocene bothers me. On paper, I should be a fan but there's a quality in Addie's voice that just does not work for me. And it doesn't help that I've heard her duet with much better singers (e.g. Violet Orlandi) which really highlights her weakness as a vocalist (for me, at least). Brad, her husband and the band's guitarist, is a pretty good growler and screamer at times, though.

Lord of the Lost were Germany's Eurovision entry this year. This is some highlights from their set at Wacken Open Air, a big rock and metal festival in their home country.

Xandria were one of the pioneers in the symphonic metal subgenre (or style, or whatever you call it). Only one original member remains, but the current lineup are solid and new-ish lead singer Ambre Vourvahis (her name, like her, is half-French and half-Greek) is one of the best younger symphonic metal voices.
