Some of the methods I use for link building include:
Publishing articles on article-writing sites
Publishing guest articles on forums and blogs
Submitting my site to the promotional directory and link directory on various sites, mostly webmaster forums.
using signature links for various forums
Sharing links on profiles on various forums and blogs.
Sharing website and web content on multiple social sites and bookmarking sites for social signals.
What are your favorite link-building methods?

I really like forum's signature. I enjoy conversations while spreading my links.
An advantage from many other methods is that I can update my signature once, and it's updated on every post :)
On articles, many times those links gets outdated and sometimes you can't update them on other sites where the articles are.

Many sites, this included, do not even show signature on mobile.

I also try to have a forum signature, but sharing news and events about my sites is my favorite go-to link sharing.

Links in my signature and I'll post an ad thread on any forum that allows it.

Forum signatures + social media advertising.

I used to worry about it.

I had outside sites on things like Angelfire and Geocities that pointed back to the main website, plus BBS and forum signatures and posts with links back to articles and stories.....

And, for awhile, it worked. I'd check the website statistics and some of the inbound traffic was from those links.

But, after a dozen years or so, it got rather tedious, and the benefits were starting to decline. Not to mention the effort to update the outside pages, and the fact that Geocities went dark, and so on.

Now. What happens happens. The Desk website has been there for over twenty years, it isn't going anywhere, there's enough pages on it to attract attention, and if you do a search on everything from Google to Yandex you're liable to find a link to something on it.... so, I don't work on links any more.

With bluesky being apart of the fediverse, you can actually get multiple backlinks from promoting on there.

Tumblr works well for building links too.

the Fediverse huh? how much traffic does that sorta thing generate do you think? I ask because at one point my MIA co-admin darth-apple and I were discussing the possibility of linking makestation into the fediverse using either NodeBB or Lemmy.

There’s a lot of opportunities and traffic to be gained, especially since the content is spread out through multiple social media platforms..

Nodebb and Discourse are both federated now.
