What is a positive community?

I've ran forums for many years. Ten to be exact. Right from day one, I taught myself everything from scratch. Read tutorial and tutorial about code and forum software Administration panels. But in the end, my efforts were for another purpose. The members , all the work went to them. I personally believe the members run a forum. But sometimes forums can turn really negative and the wrong way, with a trollish type community.

So in your experiences and words, what is a "positive" community and how are the members?

A positive community should be friendly, with minimum amount of drama happening here and there, with people you can trust easily and where opinions are respected. Btw this forum is the most perfect I've ever seen and enjoyed

I instantly liked this forum. The community was welcoming, not only that but super friendly and helpful. I also like how this forum is ran, its so organized and smooth.

This is a positive community for sure. But I bet it took a lot of hard work to get here.

I can attest for Nebulous and Jazzy on that. I've been coming on and off to this forum for years. They've had good times and bad times with it. I'm honored to say, they never gave up. This place is great and it's because of those two amazing people ^^^

Back on topic, A positive community is one that has different opinions, yet are still open minded to each other. It's almost like a family. Scratch that, it is a family! Like mentioned above, Off Topix is a perfect example of this topic.

I think it also comes down to "Troll and Spam" control. If you let your board get aten up by the trolls, it can be sometimes a big job to clean up.
