What rights should the father have if his unmarried girlfriend wants an abortion?
Men do not have many rights at all when it comes to a termination, I think if the woman is a decent person she’d consider his feelings and thoughts.
Of course his behaviour should always be taken into account.I think it should be more based on how the man behaves in the relationship.
Is he fit to raise a child?
Is he domestically violent?
Does he make her work while he stays home?
Does he mooch off of her?
Does he make bad lifestyle choices?
Now Imagine if you had a daughter, she's 18. Her boyfriend beats and rapes her. You've had to get involved on more than oneoccasion. She gets pregnant. She wants to leave him and not only that but doesn't want have his child. Tearfully, she begs you, her father, for an abortion. You know if she has that child that she can't put it up for adoption without her boyfriend's written consent. She won't be rid of him for the next 18 years. He may abuse the child. The child may grow up and learn his bad habits. If he raped your daughter, he may molest the child. By having the abortion, death is a mercy rather than have the child put up with his bullshit and spend thousands of dollars in court trying to minimize his rights to that child.
Would you still consider it? I would. I wouldn't think twice about it. I'd drive her over to the next state and have it done or go to Canada and have it done. Then I'd come back and have restraining order placed her dead beat boyfriend.

A father deserves the same rights as does the mother
None. Her body, her choice. If he doesn't like it, that's his problem, not hers. He can break up with her after he made sure the baby is gone and there is no possibility she'd secretly keep the baby and extort child support from him later on.What rights should the father have if his unmarried girlfriend wants an abortion?

I agree! The baby has its own distinct DNA and it took the father's sperm and the mother's egg to be created. I'm pro-life and many of the excuses given are for convenience or out of fear. Doctors have been wrong at times in their declarations that the mother will surely die if she didn't kill her child and they have also been wrong in declaring that the child would be deformed or whatever.
Interesting, you usually don't see these types of responses from women.

That saying of my body my choice...doesn't take into account that the baby is not the mother.
The baby's body is in the mother and was created using both a father and a mother, which is why father's should have rights as well.
None. It should have been discussed beforehand. There are no shortage of available and affordable birth control options for both men and women. That's why you shouldn't have children outside of marriage. What rights should the father have if his unmarried girlfriend wants an abortion?
I see these debate threads haven't changed.
Pardon me while I slip out the side door and find a suitable adult beverage.
