well, that is music to my ears that someone else knows who he wasI know who Bernard Cribins was, and was sad to hear of his passing. I know him from Doctor Who. I believe he'll be in the upcoming 60th Anniversary specials, which were filmed before his death.

Much as Connery is my favourite Bond, it's his post-007 work that really endeared him to me. Ramirez in Highlander as mentioned already (Sir Sean and Queen's music are the best things about that movie). Robin Hood in Robin & Marian. Jimmy Malone in The Untouchables. William of Baskerville in Name of the Rose. Henry Jones Sr. in The Last Crusade. Even a rather mundane part like his character in The Presidio was enhanced by his presence.
