I was having a conversation with somebody yesterday and I know most people are closet Nickleback fans but he denied that he ever was.

Come on...

Hahaha, I hate you for getting this stuck in my head.
Oh....I had this one stuck in my head all day when I used to clean cars out of the garage. It would play 50 times a day. They would play it on the radio after every other song. It was so bad that every day after work I had to drown my ears out with multiple Deftones songs on the way home, just to get it out of my head. :p

THIS. IS A CLASSIC.

AND WITH THE GIRLS NEXT DOOR?

YOU CANNOT DENY THIS IS AN ANTHEM

When the first ever Spider-Man movie came out, their song "Hero" played on the radio all day and night.

See, this is one I actually liked. But Saliva was also involved so it's not 100% Nickelback.

I dislike things that sound "country" or "southern"
I wouldn't call their earlier stuff especially Southern. That's more their later and current sound. And they are from Alberta which is as close as Canada gets to having a Texas so a Southern sound kind of fits.

I wouldn't say that I like them, but I will say that I don't hate them. For a little while, it was really popular to mock them. They became the go-to punching bag for that sort-of generic, manufactured mainstream rock. Thing is though, they're perfectly adequate. They remind me of Three Doors Down, Puddle of Mud, or Imagine Dragons, where they're capable of good songs, but I can't really say they have a firm identity or depth beyond the occasional ear-wormy, superficial tune. I like "Hero", I like "Away from the Sun", I like "Blurry", and I like "Demons" (songs by each of those four bands), but I can't find much else to say about them.
