Ok so I saw a debate on another forum.

Whose fault is it when someone gets killed or injured due to a teen drinking/doing drugs?

The government, The society, The parents, Or the teens, or others if you can think of.

This is my view point:

I say its the teens fault IF they are the one taking it knowingly.

Cause with all the media and everything by the age of like 12 or 13 (and I know Im hitting young there- and your meaning older teens- but Im just going younger to put empasis on time) they know the effets of drugs and alcohol and that its illegal.

So basicly, my point (and I say this about everyone who complains about getting drunk or high afterwords) is that you dont start off drunk or high, so when you START drinking of taking the drugs, your in a fresh sense of mind and you know whats going to happen before.

(and yes, I did just post that from the forum I got it from)

You say it is the teens fault...

But isnt it the parents to blame for allowing that behaviour to develop int he first place?

Surely they should be disiplined way before it even gets to the stage of taking drugs.

It is also partly the goverments fault,

Being they make it a big deal, saying its illegal and everything just makes teens want to do it more because its rebelious and aginest the law,

When i was that age, i found it cool to break the law, as kids, you generally think that..

Everyone is to blame.

The Teen for not being able to control themselves and get out of that situation

The Parents for not disiplining the Teen right before this even comes into there heads.

The Goverment for over hyping it.

They dont overhype smoking yet more people probably die of cancer then from heroin...

Each person is responsible for their own actions. I'm sick of everyone else being blamed but the person who actually did what was done.

Its not the parents fault, a child could have been given the perfect childhood with values and morals instilled into them. Or a child could have grown up around parents drinking and doing drugs. Either way, teens are not a product of their environment. They are random and rebellious individuals who will make good or bad choices regardless of how they were raised or what they were taught.

I think the teens are most at fault. Just because they're minors doesn't mean they can't think or decide right from wrong. Nebulous makes a good point about the parents.

As for government, I don't think they're at fault much or at all in this case.

of course it's the persons own fault. unless someone is there to hold their hands throughout their entire life, there is no way you can actually prevent this person from taking drugs or drinking alcohol.

The person, it's their choice to drink, smoke and take drugs, and they should face the consequences of their actions.

They choose to put themselves in these sort of situations, then really, it's not the parents or governments fault at all.

It's the teens fault. Age 10+ you know the difference between right and wrong. What you do is your responsibility.
