Holy Orwell, The great Britain is firewalling their Internet like it's China and adding privacy invading shit into each and every one of their devices. And I've heard people got jailed there for stupid Internet posts. I created a post in the Government and Politics thread. Why should you, a non-UK person, care? Other country leaders might get some ideas and start surveilling their citizens like this

Don't I just know it! I live in the hellhole and have done since the age of 8. Didn't mind at first but now I bloody hate it and have done since 1997. It's not a democracy, it's a dictatorship. Sadly, I'm stuck here.

Because the government thinks they know about how to live your life than you do.

You got that right, Webster.
The great author and literary legend C.S. Lewis said it best....
Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
As bad as things might've been in past decades under certain PM's - *cough* Thatcher *cough* - Starmer's turning out to be a real piece of work.

I mean, these are the same people Frankie who, among other things....
(1) Arrest individuals for the crime of praying too close to an abortion clinic
(2) Dare to fly the Union Jack in public
(3) Dare demand the right to a trial-by-jury
(4) Dare to challenge His Majesty's Government on the ongoing issue of the grooming & rape gangs throughout England
(5) Dare to view the websites of their choosing w/out having to submit to ID verification

Etc., etc., etc.,...

Right again, Webster! (although I personally loved Margaret Thatcher and have even met her but you have the right to your opinion). My national flag is the Irish tricolour but, again, people should be free to fly whatever flag they choose and my mother was English. I felt safe under Mrs T, I haven't felt safe under her successors, especially this one. You should be Prime Minister.

I'm scared of even expressing that if I were in the UK, (or even Germany). If a simple prayer in a specific location is enough to jail someone, imagine what would happen if I express discontent on a niche forum. I may seem paranoid but I'm leaving as little digital footprint containing my online identity from my irl identity as possible
