Please tell me why? This is still confusing me...

It's been proven that weed does less damage, it's been around for most of human history and maybe that it won't kill you like cigarettes do?

Really the only reason I see is that the government makes no money off weed, while they make billions on cigarettes, and that they cause a high, only if overdosed and cigarettes have worst symptoms.

Seriously, this greedy to make cigarettes legal?

Well, i think cigarettes are legal...

But i know your question, lol. Honestly, i think it's because such a majority of this country is so ignorantly Christan, that nobody wants to even propose the idea of it, in fear of getting a bad rating from the crowd. Politicians are in it for themselves, well at least most of them.

a majority of this country is so Ignorantly Christian is a complete exaggeration, because if you believe this nation is made up of a Christian majority, you've been living in a different country than me. Second, this has nothing to do with Christianity or religious beliefs. The real reason why weed is illegal because the government wouldn't be able to properly tax it.

It would be legal, but the governments can't make money off at the moment, therefore it's still legal.

Besides, the laws where i am are pretty decent, you can have a fair amount of it on you and/or one plant in your house and only get hit with a very small fine or warning. No more than $150 so i am happy.

I meant no offense to Christians. I said that wrong. What i meant to say, is that there are many ignorant religious people who wouldn't want weed to be legal, because the indulgence of blah blah blah is against their blah blah blah. But i'm most likely wrong. What do you mean the government can't properly tax it?

got to be one of the most stupid questions i have ever seen asked! *looks for shaking head in dispair smilie*

cos if you dont know why its illegal then you must be stupid

sorry if i offend but drug abusers get short shrift from me

Since some people grow their own weed, they wouldn't have to pay taxes for it, but could just as easily say they bought the weed, inferring they paid their taxes on it, when in reality, they didn't.

I don't understand why you feel you can call everyone who doesn't know why it's illegal stupid, and then not even answer. So, why is it illegal?

Couldn't the same be said for tobacco? Although bud would be more expensive than tobacco.

Tobacco is much harder to grow and maintain than weed; therefore, tobacco users typically buy their tobacco, but weed is much easier to grow and produce.

Read it, absorb it.

People like you who just generalize weed as a bad drug clearly do not know the facts. It's scientifically proven weed has less hazardousness damage to people and can be produced much faster than tabaco.

Not everyone who takes drugs is a drug abuser

Marijuana can be prescribed by a doctor and a person can take it as prescribed. Anything your doctor prescribes you is a drug. Are all people in the world who take medication considered to be drug abusers ?

im not trading insults........i never said you are a drug dealer.....i just have a very low opinion of drug users.

weed is a drug that alters the brains chemistry.........both in the short term and long term..............it can alter a persons ability to operate machinery or vehicles (therefore endangering others)............it effects mood, concentration and can cause paranoia...........and that is scientifically proven

lol...written by an organisation that wants it legalised!....of course its going to be biased!

Well so does alcohol...

As Jughead made clear to me, it's not the impairment issues that constitute weed being illegal. It's the fact that it's easier to grow and therefore harder to maintain by the government on tax.

So does alcohol, why isn't that illegal?

The only reason it's biased is because the subject of the topic is why marijuana should be legalized. It's not saying good and bad of weed.

The government had a WAR ON DRUGS for the past decades, imagine how it would look if all of a sudden it's the WONDER DRUG

Why don't cigarette smokers grow their own tobacco?

whats the point in argueing?........you have no interest in changing your ways or views

drugs are evil and addicts are weak minded fools.....no matter weather its drugs, alchohol, nicotine, gambling or any other form of addiction

you have never said you were on prescribed drugs............that is very very different to recreational drugs....and im sure the op of this thread was not commenting on legally prescribed drugs
