There was raging lightning and thunder last night, but that was nothing compared to this afternoon. It was really overcast when I left school, and more or less the same when I arrived at the train station. Shortly after I went on the train, though, things went mad.
It started hailing - that's rare enough for Perth, but for the beginning of Autumn it was even more surprising. In the train, I could hear chunks of ice smashing down above us, and it was hard to see anything outside. This was very shortlived, but quickly replaced by a lot of rain.
When I got off the train at my station, seen above, there was no dry spot. Despite the cover which should serve as a roof, the rain just kept going; there were great big puddles all over the place, and water was spouting down from those pillars.
I got drenched, and shortly after I boarded my bus, the rain stopped. Right now we just have lighting and thunder, but I don't have any memory of the weather being this mad and unpredictable. Here are some photos I took walking home.
Yes, that's coming out of a drainpipe.
Hey, that's no good. The water's supposed to go down there.
Definitely hail, and I'm sure glad I didn't get caught out in it.
So there you go, that was just something I felt like sharing. You can see how I get excited by chunks of ice falling from the sky.
