I grew up in Canada and when I was only about 14 years old I was at some party way outside the city, without getting into the details, I was suppose to stay the night at this place, but left at about 3 am.
I was winter and it was cold. I walked for ages when I finally saw a taxi.
I got in and told the driver where I lived, which was far but then told him that I only had $5 and told him to take me as far as $4.00 will go, so I could give him a tip.
He drove me safely all the way home and took nothing from me.

One time my car broke down and someone pulled over to help. All they did was let me use their cell phone to call a friend to come get me. That was more than enough! There wasn't a phone or civilization for miles.
