How would you define a "successful forum" and what qualities would a successful forum need to have?

It has to be active imo. Not like a new post every 10 seconds, but somewhere with good and consisted interaction.

I'd say a forum is successful when the admin has created a place that people want to come back to.
Some qualities would include: a nice amount of posts, members, a snazzy appearance and fresh content available on a regular basis.

Forum/blog's got to be like a community, in which people can debate & disagree with each other
respectfully, even making friends & ... I think I've gotten to that with my blog.
