if you get agressive over something as silly as someone on the internet then you have problems which you need to adress

and second, your signature contains something that I would find unfavorable and unsettling on my forum.

Final warning guys. This is getting off-topic and out of hand. Next time, it will be locked.

Thats got nothing to do with your forum though, So stop nit picking.

Ahem,

I think your rules are too long. Narrow them down and people will have a better understanding of what they are getting into.

I do not think it's necessary to make a rule about proper grammar and spelling. Don't go on sites where the majority of the members use text speak or improper grammar & spelling and you won't get as many of them on your site.

You cannot control every aspect of what your members do, so I would not put pressure on them to have 100%, 24/7 perfect grammar and spelling. People come to forums to relax, not feel pressured.

I narrowed my rules down, and things like practicing ___ are suggestions, not rules.

Aww Lawd, RULES!!?

Yes, yes rules. Almost every forum has it, so I'm sure you'll adapt because they're no different from any other place.

*

* Rule 1: No Flaming, Trolling, Harassing

Flaming is when a person insults another person online. It is net-slang for “insult”.

This does nothing but create a snowball effect and gives the impression that that type of behavior is OK here at Indulge, when it truly isn't. It gives off an unwelcoming vibe to visitors and newcomers.

It's against the rules because it helps create an inhospitable environment that could possibly only flourish on drama and negativity. We don't want that here and the less drama here, the more fun it will be.

We do not approve of trolling and it is against the rules. Trolling is when a user intentionally says things to get one or a group of people riled up, and usually follow them from topic to topic.

Harassing:

Please do not harass other members if they wish you would leave them alone. If they no longer wish for you to PM them, please respect their wishes. Don't follow them around from topic to topic trying to make them pay attention to you. These people have the option of using the ignore feature on you if things get too annoying for them. Please do not report these people if you didn't give them a warning. If they continue to PM you after you have warned them, please put them on ignore and report them.

Rule 2: No Inappropriate Content. (Signatures, avatars, discussions)

Appropriate content is something that you wouldn't mind showing to the public (in a traditional sense).

Inappropriate content is something that is usually known to be kept private such as raunchy photos, self-photos, videos, cartoons, signatures, avatars (etc). This also includes discussions, so be mindful of what you post on the boards.

Posting any X-Rated material will result in the deletion of your account. This includes self-photos, signatures, photos of other people, photos with you in your underwear (regardless of gender. Sorry, if one isn't acceptable why accept the other?Double standards..nah.) and mature anime.

Secondly, this violates our forum-host's Terms of Service. We are not allowed to have such material here and not only that, there might be minors lurking around.

* Rule 3: Forum Feuds:

Forum Feuds are when a group of people or one person from another website comes to harass the people on a website they dislike for whatever reasons. Please do not act as a representative for a whole group of people (the members on Indulge) and post malicious things on other people's websites in the name of Indulge. We don't really care for net-drama. If you dislike something, dislike it, but don't drag the forum into such drama.

* Rule 4: No Spamming:

There are so many ways to spam on forums, for example:

Endless quote boxes for the sake of it. This causes people to have to scroll all the way down to get to the next post. To you it might seem funny, but to others? Not so much.

PM Advertising

Please do not PM advertise. This upsets many people and if you really wanted to advertise, all you have to do is ask. No one's going to lunge at you for advertising the -right- way.

* Rule 5: Political, Religious Debates:

As far as these go, we don't allow them to go on here. Set all those politics aside and please do not use the forums as a political debate platform . No rule is ever set in stone, so I hope you don't feel discouraged from coming here because of this.

* Rule 6: Racism, Sexism, & Other offensive comments.

Please do not post any offensive material in regards to race, religion, gender, or sexual preferences. If you see anyone posting any offensive comments, images, or videos concerning this rule, please contact a staff member IMMEDIATELY. Do not reply flaming the user, because it might be a troll. The more you flame, the longer he or she will stay.

* Rule 7: Appropriate Signature & Avatar sizes:.

Please do not use large images in your signatures. 400x100 is the limit. Please use avatars that are 100x100.

-----------------------------------------------------

* Help Us (>**highly suggested**):Let Moderators (and Administrators), moderate:

[Spammers]

If there is any issue with another member here such as spamming, please let us deal with them. It is not your duty, so you should not stress yourself by fussing at the said spammer for disrupting the flow of the topic, or the forums.

[Flamers]

If you see someone flaming, please report the person using the Report Abuse button. If you feel as though the moderator or admin has taken too long (more than 24 hours) to respond to the offense, please send them a personal message concerning the topic. Do not flame the person back for flaming you, or someone else.

[Repeat Topics]

If there is a topic that is already provided, please stay calm. Don't fuss with the user who made the repeat-thread, report the topic to us via Personal Message (NOT the Report Abuse button, since it is not that serious). It is not a big deal here since the topics can be merged, locked, or deleted.

[Help Trolls]

If a newcomer has questions or is not posting in the right forum, please do not help them in the stereotypical Newbie Hater fashion by bombarding them with impolite posts in an attempt to “help” them. If you are going to help, help in a polite manner. This makes people more open to asking questions about anything on the forums, rather than silence them and do what everyone else is doing (which could lead them to violating the rules).

* Posting Etiquette: Staying On Topic:

It's really nice to have random discussions, but some people don't like it. It messes up the flow of everything. If you stray too far off topic, you should try to get back on topic or leave until you are in the mood to get back on topic.

If you want to have off-topic discussions, please remember we have a Saturday night chat-session as well as our spamming section called “Brain Farts”.

7 rules and a few suggestions . ^^

Having lots of rules is a turn off and people will tend not to read them. Better to have a few rules that are easily read, concise and to the point.

I don't see the point in having a rule about grammar, especially since there are lots of grammatical errors in your rules. In any case, not everyone has a good grasp of grammar and I think it's far more important that members should feel relaxed and not have to worry about being ridiculed or chastised by the grammar police if they happen to get it wrong.

Is this better?

These are the rules of the forum.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. No use of strong language. Hovever if it's in context (e.g.-A book, video game, television show, etc.) or a quote or in/or from a game/music/review/etc, it's alright.

2. No pornography allowed. But with nude art (e.g.-Micheangelo's David/ecchi etc.) please use the spoiler code.

Code:
[Spoiler][/Spoiler]

3. Deceptions of cruelty, blood, gore, and dismemberment is prohibited without notifying clearly. However, gameplay videos and let's play of M-rated games are fine and please do not post links to shock sites, and screamers, and crap like that. We don't need that stuff in our forum.

4. Spamming, trolling, hacking and piracy discussions of raids, gambling, drinking, and the like are prohibited.

and do not insult or flame anyone, no matter what the cause. A playful, you idiot etc is allowed. No racial, religious, or other slurs either.

5. You may not ask for a moderator position. Moderators are people whom we consider to be good members who make sure everything goes right.

6. Do not create multiple accounts. Moderators are able to view IP addresses, and anyone caught with multiple accounts will get all the accounts deleted and have their IP banned.

7. You may not have oversized signatures/avatars on this forum as it makes most things difficult to read.

and Avatars/Signatures may not have anything offensive or disturbing.

8. Do not type using all capital letters. This is considered shouting on the internet and is very annoying.

9. Do not post large pictures. Some members have dial-up or slow connections, and not to mention they just piss people off.

10. Be mature and friendly, please (with the exception of the Role-Play board, in which all hell can break loose).

11. Double-posting is prohibited. Except if you are bumping your thread and 24 hours have passed.

Also, necroposting (posting in a dead and inactive topic) is discouraged, unless you have a valid point to bring to the discussion.

12. Please keep your anime, furry (beastality), video game etc 'fetishes' to yourself, we do not want that on our forum.

13. Please do not make a thread for advertising your site, if you must advertise, this can be done in your signature.

14. Videos that are posted must be at least appropriate to 13 years and under, but there are exceptions such as, video game reviewers, reviews, M-rated games, Let's Plays etc.

You should offer help to people without expecting recognition in return. You should do it because you genuinely like helping people..

[/quote]It's a thing called common courtesy. Someone helps you, you say thanks.

Yes but its not a perfect world and people will not always say thank you. Don't get too stressed or worked up if people dont always say it. I don't think its even worth pointing out personally.

Nope.

It's never a good idea to bring a old thread back from the dead, it's better to let it die.

I can't believe this! The only way I can see this being a good rule is if it's an advertisement where the link no longer works or isn't affective.

Name one forum where you have seen this rule put in effect!

I have been on plenty of forums where the exact opposite is true, where you may bump up old threads if you have something to say.

Honestly, all you're doing is chasing away potential members. There are quite a few forums where you may bring back a topic if there's something you want to add to it.

The time a topic was last posted into has no correlation to how relevant it is. As long as the post being made that bumps it adds to the conversation then I don't see a problem. The only threads where there is no justification for bumping are time dated topics such as post count milestones and birthday/holiday celebration threads.

Yes, old Birthday/Anniversary threads, and what all Bluezone said are not okay to have bumped. Like say, last month someone makes a milestone of 1000 personal posts, this month you may not bump your topic saying, congratulations when the topic is already a month or more old. I also agree with bumping threads if you have something to say that is related to the topic. So say, for the popular threads like, Which is your favorite forum software and you don't reply till like a year later, but you do reply with, I like this kind of software for this reasons then that'd be okay because it's relevant to the topic you're discussing, which in this case is what your favorite software is and why it's your favorite.
