Do you donate blood?

no.

It's to do with my afterlife belieff. I feel I need to have all my blood, organs, etc, to be able to go to the afterlife

I don't, I've never been allowed to, but I can't remember why...

I don't. I have been told that I'm not eligible because I've had a liver 'condition'...yellow jaundice as a baby.
But now, even if it were wanted I would not volunteer because I'm an extremely "hard poke".

Being gay it automatically excludes me. There were petitions in New Zealand to widen the eligibility but nothing has changed yet.

They probably think the gays are going to have some sort of weird disease....
Yeah, that old fashioned mindset that just being gay means you're automatically going to catch something. Meanwhile some asshole guys are out there screwing everything that moves and spreading diseases like wildfire and no one is offended because at least he's sleeping with women. The mindset needs to change.

Agreed, people of any sexual preference can potentially donate diseased blood.

I have a male partner but I am probably least likely to bring in a disease because we are monogamous and haven't been with anyone else in well over a decade. I've done STD tests in the past and I am clean.

100% agreed, literally anyone can spread disease, it's not limited to sexual preference. The ignorance of some is terrifying.

Indeed. I am sure these rules for donating blood are leftover from the 80s but its 2023 now. Time to update them!

Absolutely! Time to get with the current era...then again, given what we're seeing introduced as legislation these days, getting with the times is near impossible for some.

Thats true. Also I don't even want to donate blood in the first place so this isn't a hill to die on for me. :P
