Is it a problem that so few goals are scored in soccer/football?

Do you think that makes the sport boring to watch?

Is it a slow game?

Soccer is a sport that I'm interested in but that I never sit down to watch. It IS slow and games seem to go on forever. I actually did watch the last part of a game last year...I think it was the Euros? Anyway, it was tied at the end of regulation and went to overtime, aka extra time. One team finally scored and I thought "Ah, that team's won!"...except they kept on playing. Overtime in soccer is not sudden death. They play until the end. OK. They get to the end. Now it's over. Nope. Then they play stoppage time. Good grief, can the game just be over already?

I think I'll just stick to checking scores and watching highlights.

I think people whose first taste of football is top tier Premier League or Champions League level stuff, yeah, that's tippy-tappy tactical nightmarish boredom. Get into the roots of football, the lower leagues, and you'll VERY quickly understand what proper football is all about and why it's more than just a team for a true supporter, it's a lifestyle, a religion, a social club, etc.

...but given where Bolton is currently playing league-wise shouldn't that stadium be named the Tough Shits Community Stadium?

 I'm sorry, I had to there....

I don't think it's slow at all... just look at cricket, snooker, and other sports where matches go on for faaaaaaaaar longer :P .

Trust me, you're not the first and won't be the last, Bolton taking a few Tough Sheets this season.

Exactly! It flows, there's movement, the clock ticks over constantly. Not slow at all.

They need some American steel in their spines; maybe put Stu Holden in as manager and bring in a few others - Taylor Twellman, Brad Friedel, the Max Texan Clint Dempsey....

I'd have Stu Holden back in a heartbeat!
Throw in both the Mad Dane and the Welsh Jesus (a/k/a Daniel Agger and Joe Allen) and it might work... ;)
