I miss ZB. I ran a promotion forum on ZB and loved it.
I can't rememberWhat was the name?
How do you sell something you don’t own? …technically Zetaboards owned all the forums hosted on their platform.I can't remember
But I know I brought a custom theme and then sold the forum.
It was something that happened on ZB forums but yeah these days it definitely wouldn't be allowed. How do you sell something you don’t own? …technically Zetaboards owned all the forums hosted on their platform.
Yes, I miss Zetaboards; what I don't miss is how they merged with Tapacrap and some of their staff (*cough* Brandon *cough*)....Does anyone else here miss the software? What were some good memories you had there? What boards did you own on the software?
It is a shame they aren't around anymore. I can't say I felt the ache that some communities must have felt when the servers went down, but I can empathize - they did the same thing to IPBFree some time before that (the forum I had was no longer active, but it still held a lot of nostalgia for me).I miss Zetaboards and I wish it was never sold to Tapatalk. I remember I made my second forum on Zetaboards and honestly I would have made my first one on the platform instead of Forumotion if I knew about it first. It's a shame that Brandon abandoned the project and just sold it even though there were many different people interested in keeping it alive. I know it was a nightmare for many Zetaboards communities to move to other platforms and people had to either start from scratch or hope that a scraper worked to get their content.
FWIW, Proboards wanted to buy out Brandon's ownership and either keep it as a standalone platform or eventually slow-merge ZB into the Proboards system. We know this because over on the Proboards' support forum we straight-up asked Patrick, one of the admins (a/k/a Patrick Clinger, the guy who founded Proboards) about this and he said, in no uncertain terms, that (a) yes, they had made inquiries to Brandon over at Zetaboards about that and (b) Brandon, politely speaking, said no.I miss Zetaboards and I wish it was never sold to Tapatalk. You learn something new every day, even when you have been with the service for ages.FWIW, Proboards wanted to buy out Brandon's ownership and either keep it as a standalone platform or eventually slow-merge ZB into the Proboards system.
I never knew this! What a shame, Zetaboards could have still been online in some form instead of just being completely taken over by Tapatalk.FWIW, Proboards wanted to buy out Brandon's ownership and either keep it as a standalone platform or eventually slow-merge ZB into the Proboards system. The only time I ever visit Tapatalk boards is to grab code or theme items for code and theme conversions.Do any of you still visit boards hosted on jcink or Tapatalk?
