It's a bit of a morbid topic to discuss but I guess we're all going to die one day. Have you considered how you want to be laid to rest? And would you want a huge gathering for your funeral?

Nothing like talking about Memento mori...

So yeah, I was realizing the other day I'm entering the age where I'm going to start having nothing but family funerals to attend to (both sides of my parents are large families) :(

I would prefer to have my organs and tissues used for transplants. If they can’t, then I want it used for medical education or research. The idea that I could have such a profound effect on total strangers after I’m gone is amazing. The number of organs and tissues they can use for transplants is always increasing. People die every day because organs aren’t available. I can only do a little, but it’s important.

Whatever is left can be cremated and spread out into nature. My ashes will fertilize plants and get cycled back into the world.

When I think of my body getting filled with preservatives and buried in a finely made box that won’t ever be seen again, that seems like such a waste.

Personally, I don't want a service of any kind. I don't like being the centre of attention in life, so I certainly don't want it afterwards. Just cremate me and spread my ashes somewhere, that's enough for me.

I want people to have a party, eat, drink, dance and celebrate my life instead of sitting around in black politely drinking tea and exchanging commiserations.

I do not even like thinking or talking about it, I know I have people in my family who are getting older and just dare to not think about it. Then again anyone can die at any time. I mean I can wall sown the street today and get killed by a car that's running me over.

That depends. If I get a terminal illness and I see that I have little time. I would try to pay for my funeral, casket and everything. But if I just up and die one day, the choice will go to someone else being my kids or another family member.

I agree with you. I want my organs to be donated for transplants NOT for medical research however. That just does not sit well with me. I too want to be cremated & my ashes spread in the ocean. I already told my husband this.

I just do not want to be cremated if I die. I still want the traditional way of being laid six feet underground with a decent tomb.
