Two star-gazers from the Indian Institute of Astrophysics in Bangalore were sent to Ladakh near the disputed border with China. Calcutta's Telegraph has reported that they had been observing the UFOs since Aug 2012.

Since August 2012 to Feb 2013, the Indian military had observed 329 sightings of unidentified objects at Thakung near the border with Tibet.

...
One was reported to have appeared on the horizon between 6 P. M. and 5 A. M. The other was visible between 4 A. M. and 11 A. M.

A news anchor in Morocco was interrupted during a live broadcast by her daughter tapping her on the shoulder to give her a smartphone.

Newsreader Lena Alwash was delivering the report on Morocco's Medi 1 television channel when her daughter unexpectedly popped up behind her.

Realising mummy was a bit busy, the young girl sheepishly ducked away and scampered off set.

NEW YORK – Ah, the joys of roughing it in the great outdoors — Champagne, high thread-count sheets, flat-screen television. This is camping, New York City-style.

At least a couple of city locales are offering this unusual option: the chance to sleep outdoors, incredibly comfortably. It is an urban take on “glamping,” where hotel comforts are taken outside.

“It’s basically being able to sleep under the stars in a luxury setting,” said Jeffrey Poirot, general manager at AKA Central Park, which offers an outdoor bedroom on its terrace outside its 17th-floor penthouse.

For about $2,000 per night, the offering includes a bedroom setup — bed, fireplace, television — but also a telescope to look at the stars and the ingredients for that campfire favorite, s’mores.

Wave of jellyfish shut down nuclear power plant
October 1, 2013 | 10:20am

The Swedish operators of one of the world’s largest nuclear reactors say they are preparing to restart the facility after it had to be shut down because of a wave of jellyfish.

A wave of jellyfish was huge enough to force one of the world’s largest nuclear reactors to shut down – a phenomenon that marine biologists say could become more common.

Operators of the Oskarshamn nuclear plant in southeastern Sweden had to scramble reactor number three on Sunday after tonnes of jellyfish clogged the pipes that bring in cool water to the plant’s turbines.

By Tuesday, the pipes had been cleaned of the jellyfish and engineers were preparing to restart the reactor, which at 1400 megawatts of output is the largest boiling-water reactor in the world, said Anders Osterberg, a spokesman for OKG, the plant operator.

The medals, of which 6,000 were pressed in silver and bronze and another 200 in gold, have now been recalled. The design included a portrait of Pope Francis on the obverse and on the reverse a work by the artist Mariangela Crisciotti.

The medals were to go on sale Tuesday and include the Latin inscription: “Vidit ergo Jesus publicanum et quia miserando atque eligendo vidit, ait illi sequere me,” according to the Vatican press office.

Mistakenly, however, the word “Lesus” was printed instead.

The phrase it the pope’s motto. It means, “Jesus, therefore, saw the publican, and because he saw by having mercy and by choosing, He said to him, ‘Follow me.’”
