Went to the eye doctor today. Because I neglected my diabetes for so long I have some eye issues. Hopefully treatable.

I've got to try having a medication injected into my eye at this stage once a month for three months. As I am needle phobic I'll have to see how it goes as there is the option to put me to sleep for each one if I need it.

If these don't work and all options exhausted I could end up with real bad blurry vision OR eventually blind :/

I hope the injections help!!

Terrible news! Hopefully everything works out for the best. Stay optimistic!

Sorry to hear that Hulkster. Hope it all goes well, definitely go for the anesthesia if you can to get you through easier.

Sorry to hear about this,

Was their other options, other than the needles? or was that the only doable option

They didn't really say much. But this is really the only option. :/

They can't do laser as the issues with my eyes the laser surgery won't get to it all.

your very strong to do needles, EVEN that close up and personal i wouldn't be able to do it.

I don't think I can... That's what stresses me :/

Even if they put me to sleep there's still a needle due to the IV.

that IV needle is nothing, i hate needles and scared of them but that kind of needle is the easy one (not for most people) but i believe in you <3

I can't handle pain. You got piercings and I can't even do that.

It's the thought of it that stresses me the most... a needle going close or into my eye or whatever they do. It's kinda yucky but stressful at the same time.

One of the risks is a sharp sting for a couple days, the worst is going blind by the medication...

The eye doctor was reading a huge list of risks. And I'm like... yeah thanks.

well.... my god i wouldn't want to hear the risks....... wtf

And then I had to sign a document stating I was okay with the risks.

So basically am I OK with a risk going blind with, or without the medication lol

One reason I just do my insulin(s). I already have fucky eyes as it is before I got diabetes. Don't wanna deal with needles in my eye(s) either.

Eye doctor in general sucks ass, but am used to it now as a grown adult.

Oh my gosh, that’s so scary and I’m so sorry you have to go through this. My grandmother had some eye thing that she had to get shots. I don’t know if I could do it. I hate needles too. Though probably not as much as you.

If it were me I’d make ‘‘em knock me out. I know you still gotta get the IV but those are slightly better than like shots and stuff. I’ve had those done a lot and I’d take those over shots anyway.

The eye doctor wants a more senior specialist eye doctor to have a second opinion before going ahead with any of this. Hopefully things have improved even slightly.
Fingers crossed! 🤞

When do you have to see the specialist?

That sounds like a good idea. Maybe he’ll have better news for you. Hope he does!

Haven't been able to see the doc yet as when I was meant to we had a family emergency.

I saw the doctor today.
Sorry forgot to post more on this.

So I saw the doctor and the injections aren't needed yet so long as I try to keep control of my diabetes the best I can.

It could be within the next couple years or even the next 10-20 years depending on how things go.

I do need to have eye tests more often though to see if there's any major changes.

…just take it one step at a time and these injections will work so you don’t have to think beyond that or cross any bridges that aren’t there at the moment…don’t let your fear monsters take over your thoughts and your optimism…the anaesthetics are an option if you feel that you can’t cope with being awake for the injections, so that’s a good thing that you don’t have to be…I wish you lots of positive thoughts through your treatment, you’re in the best hands and honestly, just take it day by day…❤️
