There’s Still Time to Prosecute the Torturers

I served two years in prison for exposing the CIA's torture program. Why are the men responsible for it walking free?

By John Kiriakou, May 18, 2015.

After I blew the whistle on the CIA’s torture program in 2007, the fallout for me was brutal. To make a long story short, I served nearly two years in federal prison and then endured a few more months of house arrest.

What happened to the torture program? Nothing...

It would also be bad news for Mr. Obama.

When he was in the US Senate, he was on the Homeland Security Committee.
yeah, and?
Because, to some degree, he was complicit in going along w/Darth Cheney's ideas and plans...there's also the fact that when he had the opportunity to do something about the Cheney-Bush Administration, Obama punted on the question.

I can only hope we were torturing the living crap out of these people. I hope they had it as efficient as a Chinese assembly line pumping out grabage for us Americans. Did not like the Bush presidency but this I loved.

"to some degree, he was complicit in going along w/darth cheney's ideas and plans"

how did you come up with that? :|

Because he kept the drone program going and the NSA's metadata programs going when he could've ended them; both those programs began under President Bush Cheney.

I have the opposite view.

Worst thing Bush and Cheney did (Yes, worse than stupidity in Iraq), terrible tactic in a war, and will prove damaging to this country and it's citizens. I don't think "Evil" is too strong of a word...

By the way, we were torturing the carp out of them (literally). And while it was not nearly as efficient as a Chinese assembly line, it did indeed produce garbage. And yes, "garbage" is the perfect word for the intel we got from that program...

To the best of my knowledge, it produced NO actionable intel of any consequence, but it did produce statements to support a narrative that was already out there. Total waste of manpower, resources and effort.

Evil...

Actually the best thing they did. And it was not even torture in reality it was the same things they do operators for training. Now I only wish they were actually torturing some of the REAL most evil people on the planet day and night screaming for mercy and none would come. And to remind them day in and day out there victims of children, women and men also were begging for mercy.

You could not be more wrong we go quite a lot of good intel from what was not even real torture, unfortunately. And no matter how much people want to deny it we have Bin Ladin because of it. So if garbage means more dead terrorists or captured it is the best garbage ever.

To the best of my knowledge, it produced NO actionable intel of any consequence,

Wrong!

but it did produce statements to support a narrative that was already out there.

Wrong!

Evil...

My kind of good evil.

@TRUE LIBERTY, instead of saying that someone is wrong, might want to make yourself clear on why you "think" someone's wrong and maybe prove it?

if not then your "wrongs" don't mean anything... ;)

thanks for answering for someone else... you're pretty good at it...

but just because he was in the senate's homeland security committee, that means he went along or agreed with bush and cheney? :|

wow, i didn't know one committee member had the power to ban what a president does...

This has been discussed before several times and I would be more then happy to copy and paste all of my previous conversations and put it here if you like if I can find them after a years worth of posting here. So thanks for your opinion but no thanks. So I repeat, WRONG!

Did he speak out against the program? Did he protest on the senate floor saying this is wrong? I do not think he did? Did he vote against the program? If those answers are no, then yes it seems he did agree.

and your "wrong" is just your opinion, not fact... ;)

what program? and how does being in homeland security committee any where relevant then military programs and missions?

what program?

The integration program we are talking about.

Homeland security is all about intelligence and threat to our nation. Well it is supposed to be anyways. So I ask again Did he speak out against the program? Did he protest on the senate floor saying this is wrong? I do not think he did? Did he vote against the program? If those answers are no, then yes it seems he did agree.

@+Justice

Well, to be fair to @TRUE LIBERTY , when he says "wrong!" in post #9, he had already given his reasons why he thought so. They were located just above, in his two initial responses.

And yes, just his opinion, but then, my post was just an opinion as well.

At the moment, that's all we are doing, just sharing our opinions. Since he seems interested in this topic, we shall have to see what develops... ;)

@TRUE LIBERTY ,

I can understand why you think it wasn't torture, and I can understand why you are certain it led to actionable intel...

After all, we have been bombarded with that narrative for at least a decade now. That is the "official" narrative from the government and the MSM. I can understand.

But may I point out that our government lies to us? They lie to us everyday, it almost appears like they lie to us about everything!
They lie about the deficit, they lie about the war, they lie about health care, they lie about inflation, they lie about the economy, they lie about unemployment, they lie about...Oh, what the heck, you know what I am talking about!

So let me ask you, what makes you think they are not lying about this?

What, in your experience, makes you think that this time, they are telling the truth?

yes, i know, but what makes you think these senators get told the truth about things and just out right not get told anything about whatever it may be... you actually believe the administration and military / government personnel tells these senate committees and the members real information? the actual government agencies and military work for the president not those committees...

I am not believing the government I am believing the operatives who worked for the CIA and who were part of this who have bravely came out under government pressure not to. And anyways officially this government is controlled by the dear leader so they are saying it does not work. And I definitely do not believe a word they say.
