Have you ever had any bad side effects from taking a medicine? What happened?

Yeh i am on tablets to stop my headaches

but they are not really working all they are doing

is making me sleepy i have told the doctors but they what

me to keep trying

Yes. When I was younger I was given Penicillin for an infection. I had an allergic reaction which included hives and I had difficulty breathing. I was rushed via ambulance to the hospital. I now wear a Medic Alert bracelet and carry a card in my wallet. In case I cannot speak for myself, medical staff are aware and will not give me Penicillin.

One time I took too many pain killers (really strong ones, I dont remember what they were) and I felt like I was going to die. I could not move, my heart was doing funny things, etc.. After a while it wore off and I was fine. I think I took some then I took more not remembering that I had already taken some.

There was one occasion when i was around 3. I was given a prescription for some antibiotics and i had an allergic reaction where i had a high fever with swelling of the throat.

But the more recent one, when i was around 13, i accidentally took NyQuil during the day and i felt really numbed out until i fell asleep.

When I was younger, I was given penicillin and had a little allergic reaction and broke out and whatnot...wasn't a bad allergic reaction, but found out I was allergic.

Then back in August or September, I had a kidney infection and they gave me penicillin even though my records said I was allergic and I had a severe reaction and almost stopped breathing completely...was not fun. XD

Why would they prescribe you a drug your recorded allergic too?

Got some tablets for my bad blood circlulation which make my blood thin and is bad when I get my nose bleeds, like yday and this morning.

Worst 'normal' circumstance was I took a medication, and the dosing was off (a mislabeling error), and one of the side effects (which I normally don't suffer from in the case of this particular medication) was 'blurred vision', but it was more like going blind, as all of a sudden, shortly after taking it, I couldn't make out anything but basic colours and shapes.

...an in-hospital experience happened when I was given an anti-biotic, and it turned out I had a reaction to it (but it was also technically partially toxic), and basically almost died, as it was causing multi-organ failure (luckily only temporary).

I forgot what the medicine was called, but it was something to fight infection. It caused me to break out in a severe rash and I started swelling and getting hives and bumps. We called the doctor and basically I went back in and since I only took one dose I was fine, just had to let it go through my system.
