Diabetes is a chronic condition that affects millions of people worldwide. It is a disease that impacts the way the body processes blood sugar, and can lead to serious health complications if left unmanaged. Living with diabetes can be challenging, but with the right care and support, it is possible to lead a healthy and fulfilling life.

How were you diagnosed with diabetes, and what type of diabetes do you have? How has diabetes impacted your daily life, and what adjustments have you made to accommodate it? What advice would you give to someone who has just been diagnosed with diabetes?

I myself do not have diabetes but my father did (specifically, Type 2 diabetes) and it made him absolutely miserable at times, especially when he would go out to eat and couldn't eat much anything with sugar in it. :(

Saw this video on YouTube and thought it informative enough to post here....

Type 1, diagnosed age 11, so my life sort of hasn't changed in terms of how it impacts me since I was just a kid. It's not fun, but it's a life. Wasn't that long ago that diabetes was a death sentence, but here I am 22 years later still living.

My brother has it. Its miserable.

My mom has this friend who me and my siblings can't stand. She's 400 lbs. When I was a young boy, I was forced to hang out with her and her son. They both have diabetes and sleep apnea. It made me uncomfortable that she would prick my finger and check my blood sugar just to get him to do it.

Whoa, that's not ok. No reason to do that to a kid unless it's medically necessary

I have both of those too and honestly the CPAP machine gives me good and bad days. Takes me way longer to fall asleep with it on. Also yeah, fuck that! I'd never let somebody do that.

I can see why you don't stand her. She sounds like a real piece of work.

Agreed. Almost child abuse if you ask me.

My late maternal grandmother had diabetes. It was not easy taking her for checkups, but we did our best and when she passed on, it was one of the most painful periods for me as a person.
For me it's going every 3-6 months to see my PCP who for now manages it. I need to go see an endocrinologist, but just never have set up that appointment. The one time I did have one, the time and date they set up without asking didn't work out. I stupidly didn't call to reschedule, so don't be me. lol

Make another appointment tomorrow! :D
