Do you think pedophiles deserve capital punishment for their crimes?

My opinion on this may not be popular. But what they did to their victims is pretty rotten. They caused a child to have emotional and mental trauma for the rest of their life. That's a fate worse than death for the victim because they were violated and humiliated. I think it would be justice if instead of putting chomos up for a free bed and breakfast that costs tax payers millions of dollars, that instead we just put them to sleep. Most of them are not sorry for what they did. The majority of them are monsters. I don't have a shred of remorse for any pedophile who gets killed in prison.

I think at a bare minimum they should be chemically castrated if male, not sure what the equivalent would be, but severe punishment in terms of punitive jail time should follow for any case of pedophilia. It is disgusting and something that should not, in any way, be tolerated.

Yes, since supposedly that attitude is incurable, those people are not needed in any society or civilization; so what in the world motivates us to pay for free room and board?

Just throw them in and amongst the general population of any prison or jail.

Given that pedophiles and most other sex offenders are at the absolute bottom of the inmate social scale, the inmates will deal with them far more efficiently than the justice system would.

It depends. Have they been accused of carrying out an act against a child? If so, they should be punished to the full extent of the law. If not and they recognize they have a problem and seek help for it, that's different.

I do agree that pedophiles deserve the death penalty. At least the ones who have actually done something to a child.

I don't like the death penalty. I don't wish it on anyone. Why should we get as low as them? Violence is not the answer as it merely repeat the sins of the past.

We lock people up for murder and robbery. Is that a reward? If I go stab a old women to death and get a life sentence is that a reward? I didn't realize prison was a reward, I'll be sure to thank my local serial killer for a job well done then.

It's because most of them don't serve a full sentence. They end up getting a suspended sentence. They get in there and get out early on good behavior because most pedos are manipulative individuals, which is a common predatory quality. So when they get out on a suspended sentence, they re-offend. A majority of them serve as little as a month in jail when they were given 6 to 8 months or they take a plea bargain that puts them on the sex offenders list and do no time. It hardly seems fitting as a punishment at all.

Sentences are often suspended not just for crimes such as sexually touching a child, which carries jail time of 180 days. In dozens of cases, adult offenders facing years in prison received suspended sentences. The case files, in which the sex of the victims and other details are commonly withheld, include:

• Alfred Jerome Dockery, charged with sexually penetrating a 14-year-old, was sentenced to 42 months in prison. Judge Geoffrey M. Alprin suspended the entire sentence.
• Dominique Anthony Annice, in her early 30s at the time, charged with sexually abusing a 6-year-old. After being sentenced to 30 months in prison, Judge Robert E. Morin suspended her sentence.
• Melvin L. Cromer, who according to the charge “engaged in a sexual act” with a 14-year-old and was sentenced to 60 months in prison. Judge Erik P. Christian suspended his sentence.
• John Anthony, who according to the charge had anal sex with a 10-year-old girl, was initially charged with first-degree child sex abuse. After pleading guilty to a lower charge, he was sentenced to 60 months in prison. But Judge Wendell P. Gardner suspended almost the entire sentence, and Anthony only had to serve six months.

Although there is no national database recording the resolutions of alleged child-sex crimes, experts say Washington faces the same challenges in prosecuting such crimes as everywhere else. The reduced sentences reflect the difficulties and peculiarities of prosecuting crimes involving children and sex.

I think this needs to be pointed out. Being a pedophile in itself isn't a crime. You can't be arrested simply because you like someone of a certain age. It's only a crime when you act on it. I mentioned my views on this in another recent reply. Regardless of their crime, they are still a human being with rights. You might not like it, but committing a heinous crime doesn't automatically strip you of your rights. It's disgusting to see people say pedophiles deserve to die. Even worse when these same people say "I'm against the death penalty, butttt."

If they commit a crime against a child, lock them up indefinitely. but killing them? This is a sick revenge mentality that needs to stop.
