Pedophiles Electronically Tagged

It's perfectly worded. Perhaps the reader of the definition does not know the definition himself?

This, as with a majority of the others, I took an 'average' of the generally presented definitions.

However, unlike 'the others', I can be prevailed upon to 'adjust' the definition if reasonable argument can be made to that end.

and so, I await argument in that direction

Why can't pedophiles be tracked when other criminals are tracked? DUI offenders are tagged. Even people who haven't committed a crime yet are tracked such as people even suspected to be terrorists. And some studies show that it works: https://www.ncjrs.gov/pdffiles1/nij/234460.pdf

The statistics come from the U.S. Department of Justice. But here's another link: https://www.ncjrs.gov/pdffiles1/nij/grants/238481.pdf

I think there should be ways to tag offenders without resorting to that extreme. Or maybe use it as a parole requirement for pedophiles and violent sex offenders. I have no problem with them being monitored this way.

Pedophilia n. an obsession with children as sex objects. Overt acts, including taking sexual explicit photographs, molesting children, and exposing one's genitalia to children are all crimes. The problem with these crimes is that pedophilia is also treated as a mental illness, and the pedophile is often released only to repeat the crimes or escalate the activity to the level of murder. (See: molestation, rape, pornography).

I would agree to it if they are repeat offenders, but you shouldn't put any tracking device that is too noticeable.

@+Mr Jazzy: The above quote is from a legal dictionary not some Webster's English dictionary.

So, in the USA, it's against the law to be a pedophile? I didn't know it was illegal to be attracted to anyone or to anything... :|

Look up the word please!

Other legal sources use the same definition including the case of R. v. Byers, 2011: http://canlii.ca/en/on/onsc/doc/2011/2011onsc4159/2011onsc4159.html
Pedophilia is a sexual preference for sexual activity with prepubescent children, typically under the age of 11. It indicates a proclivity for sexual contact with children that cannot be expected to remit.

And the Crime Classification Manual (2006): http://murders.ru/Classific.pdf
A pedophile’s sexual interest in children might be combined with other sexual deviations (paraphilias), which include indecent exposure (exhibitionism), obscene phone calls (scatophilia), exploitation of animals (zoophilia), urination (urophilia), defecation (coprophilia), binding (bondage), baby role playing (infantilism), infliction of pain (sadism, masochism), real or simulated death (necrophilia), and others.
