Riding naked on a plane for security purposes is ridiculous, but pat-downs and body scanners are not. Benjamin Franklin's quote is misused in the above post in my opinion. As citizens, we're not giving up our rights to live in a free and secure nation by going through security checks. Without security, we would have no freedom. I highly doubt Benjamin Frankin was referring to airport body scanners to prevent terrorists as giving up our freedom. The only freedom that is being lost is the freedom for terrorist to cause destruction in this great nation. It's a simple and basic process. We're in 2010, you walk into the scanner, then you're on your way if you pass inspection. If necessary, they'll pat you down if a red flag is raised. Once you're passed security, you're on your way to a safe flight. If you feel you were violated in any way shape or form, contact airport officials. Improper pat-downs happen, but they serve a great purpose if properly performed.
