Again, this is not from those haters at FOX.

(Reuters) - Smoke belching from Asia's rapidly growing economies is largely responsible for a halt in global warming in the decade after 1998 because of sulphur's cooling effect, even though greenhouse gas emissions soared, a U.S. study said on Monday.

The paper raised the prospect of more rapid, pent-up climate change when emerging economies eventually crack down on pollution.

World temperatures did not rise from 1998 to 2008, while manmade emissions of carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuel grew by nearly a third, various data show. ...

So either we freeze to death or burn to death... Still plenty of reason to get that crap out of the air, asthma for one.

True.

Besides, fossil fuels are going to be gone soon. Eventually we will have to make the change to green energy. Better to start preparing the infrastructure for it early enough or it could become a real crisis.

We aren't exactly there yet... the polar circles still hold resources and cars etc. are becoming more fuel efficient.

Still, bound to run out sooner or later and at that point there'd better be something to lighten the blow.

True, but considering that like 1-2% of the energy in my country comes from green energy, we also have a very long way to go before anything is going to change.

I wish they'd make up their minds.

Is it warming or cooling or what?

Montana ultra-marathon race cancelled due to snow

5:42 PM, Jul. 9, 2011

MISSOULA — The race director of a 100-mile ultra-marathon foot race through the Flathead National Forest has cancelled the event due to lingering snow on the route that he says would make the course too dangerous for runners and likely prevent anyone from finishing within the required 36-hour limit.

Brad Lamson said that portions of the course for the Swan Crest 100 have deep snow that is concealing signs that mark trail intersections.

Both... just not equally in all places, I suppose.

Sunlight is reflected off all that junk in the air. Sunlight that does come through gets reflected back to Earth after reflecting off the surface.

Just have to find a nice equilibrium somewhere.

Its the heightening of climatic extremes moreso than a uniform increase of world temperatures at all times.

Have you read about what is happening to glaciers and the ice on greenland and in the arctic?

If it was we wouldn't have ice ages...

If we play our cards right we could keep a fairly constant temperature on Earth for the rest of... humanity's existence.

Seems that the global climate has never been Stable over a geologically significant period of time.

That is correct. However it is unusual for it to be so unstable across a geologically insignificant period of time.

Also, ice growing in the antarctic? Can I see a link to this?

We'll be screwed either way. We run out of oil or we freeze to death. (The ultimate end of global warming.) But the oilmen will die rich, so who cares?

Climate scientists have cracked the mystery of why Antarctic sea ice has managed to grow despite global warming—but the results suggest the trend may rapidly reverse, a new study says.
