Anyone here go to the Gym? I recently joined up. (2 months ago) it has been going great, i got 3 times a week currently, more if i can get there. It's a 24/7 Gym which is great.

I am starting something else next week also where i go for a run every morning after i get up, apart from Saturday and Sunday, go around the street or until i am buggered, come home, do as many push ups as i can, aim for 10 and work my way up and the same with sit ups, go to the gym 3 times a week, i shall be buff in no time.

Do you do any exercise? Thinking about it?

No and no.

I figure that I'm on my feet all day every day, walking around classrooms and playground and lucky to get 20 minutes a day for lunch.

I sometimes join in kicking a football around in the playground or playing basketball or skipping.

Last week we took 2 classes of kids to see The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe which was a play put on by students at a local college.

We walked the kids a mile or so to the college and then another mile back again. My feet are well worn.

Our school has an outdoor heated swimming pool and we're allowed to swim in there at lunchtimes or after school. It's not open right now, it will open again in May and can be used until October.

At my old school I used to like playing cricket and rounders but they don't really do that here. However, when the pool is open the kids get 2 or 3 swimming sessions a week instead.

Yeah, i do. I recently signed up for a three month membership. I rather like it because it's really close to the house and there's not much people there, so i feel a lot more comfortable with myself, working out.

I got a 3 year membership at a grrreat price. I love the water aerobics class probably the best, immediately followed by the hot tub, sauna and steam room. If I do nothing else, I do those.

I don't have a gym membership, but I do have a workout/athletic regimen that I follow. I have a small portion of gym equipment on my own, so going to a gym would be a bit redundant. I'm also 'lucky' in terms of physical activity, because certain life circumstances require significant physical investment of my part to do some basic things.

I joined a gym in august. I go about 3 or 4 times a week. I always go on the weekends because I take my daughter swimming & she likes the rock wall & day care play area.

I lost weight in the 1st month or two, then nothing. Perhaps I need to re-evaluate my grocery shopping list next time.

I joined a gym around 2 months ago, got a yearly membership which was quite cheap. I used to go almost every week 3 times a week, however lately (last 2 weeks or so) I haven't gone once, ive been really lazy but im going to continue my 3 days a week routine tomorrow and not be so slack anymore

Also @ the OP: if you want to gain muscle, don't run, running actually burns muscle, if you want to be buff use protein shakes (or eat high protein foods, such as grilled chicken breast, if you can't stomach protein shakes) and go to the gym 3 sessions a week (3 days, Monday, Wednesday, Friday) for around an hour - an hour and a half each session and get a minimum of eight hours sleep each day especially the day before your gym session. Sleeping is very important for muscle development. Good luck

Well you got to drop the weight before you can work on fine tuning / details. Running / Cardio is a great way to shed the excess baggage.

Well you don't have too, it's really up to you although it does make it kinda easier. Also remember if you want to gain muscle, sometimes gaining weight is good as muscle is also weight. But if your eating crap food such as McDonalds, KFC, etc. then obviously weight gain isn't healthy.

In regards to Nathans post, I am not doing it to get Buff, that was kinda a joke, but i do want to have a bit of muscle on my arms, legs etc, but i am also a little overweight so i am losing weight at the same time, most of my time spent at the Gym is on weights etc, i don't do that much cardio, but i do enough, i can tell i have lost weight since starting but i have gained weight in the long run obviously muscle etc, but i can tell just by looking at my stomach it has got smaller, and others have commented on it also.

I am doing the running everyday to help me get rid of my gut and while at the gym i will be spending most of my time with weights as well, so it's a good balance of both, once i have lost this bit of weight, i will work more on the muscles and toning everything up, then i just have to work to stay this way.

As a matter of fact, I joined the gym a week ago, came back just a few hours ago.

I haven't worked out in a while so ya i'm starting to get back in shape.

I think working out is becoming ever more popular thanks to shows like Jersey Shore and the importance of staying fit.

I started working, even though I am pretty fit, but it's a great stress reliever

The only thing Jersey Shore has inspired me to do is pick up my remote and change the channel.

Never heard of Jerry Shore.

But no, i think the main reason more people are getting fit now days is because they realize all of the health risks evolved in being over weight. Just takes some more time than others.

No. That doesn't stop from lifting weights in my friend's house or doing exercise every once in a while though.

I go to the gym 3 times a week with friends. We work out for around 2 hours. I like it, it's fun.

I would go to the gym, but I dont have the money to pay for it. Plus, I dont think theres one within 5 miles of my house, so my parents probably wouldnt take me that often :/.

I've been going to the gym for a couple of months now and i have lost a bit of weight and gained a fair bit of muscle.

But i want to lose a bit more fat around my stomach.

Does anyone know, or do any really intense cardio workouts which will lose the kilos quickly (well, not quickly but you know what i mean)

I do the normal stuff like the treadmill etc, but want something a bit more involved which will work me really hard.

Cheers.

Good to hear you've made progress. From my experience, although it sounds a bit silly, some of those workout videos really do work. As an alternative, have you considered taking up boxing? It doesn't have to be anything extensive, merely a home effort (I'm sure there is something on YouTube or the likes with some ideas for proper home regimes and exercise in this manner). The training one has to do for boxing can build some nice muscle in that area and it builds cardio. and strength. Martial arts in general also have the same effect.

Another good one you might want to try (you may already have done it, in machine-form at the gym) is rowing. Even some open-stillwater kayaking can be rather fruitful in the manner you seek.

Unfortunately, for men, typically our body fat deposits around the stomach area first, and so it's more noticeable and harder to get rid of there. A healthy dose of patience and perseverance will be your best tools at your disposal.
