Have kids before 25 or you're not human!

My advice to everyone about having kids is never to do it because others are doing it. If you can't take care of kids, don't bring them into the world to suffer.
I would rephrase that like this: My advice to everyone about having kids is never to do it. Don't bring them into the world to suffer.

Life is nothing but the constant pain and suffering. I don't understand how humans, despite being a sentient species, can be so cruel and sadistic to their own kind by creating and delivering new humans into the world of pain and suffering. I really, really, don't get it. It defies all logic.

Seriously, it's a worrying situation that we have found ourselves in and it breaks my heart.

I have just come to the conclusion that we are flawed creatures.

"Flawed" is an understatement. Making a mistake once is understandable. Not learning absolutely anything and repeating the same mistake over and over again, despite being proven wrong at every turn, is... hmmm... I don't think there's a word in the language of men, elves or dwarfs that fits such level of stupidity.

I will say that one should have kids when they are ready else they will regret it. I don't subscribe to this talk of having kids early when there are other things you want to achieve in life.

I think that there's some truth to that opinion also; surprising how radically thoughts and opinions can differ.

If people don't want kids, don't make them breed. We're overpopulated as it is. I'm really sick of people trying to make your life their business. It's none of their damn business, period. Some people need to just focus on their own damn life and leave other people alone.

Indeed, if you don't follow the typical life path: get married to someone of the opposite sex, have kids, work a 9 to 5, buy a house, etc ....then there is something wrong with you and everyone wants to fix you! or at least interrogate you all the time and ask when you're going to conform with all the societal norms.

Screw society!

I agree, women are expected to have kids and be moms. Society expects that of them but nobody expects a man to be a dad.
Its' the same double standard that says that a man can screw all the women he wants to but God forbid a woman so much as look at more than one man sexually...

Indeed, she's considered a "slut" while he's a cool guy "player"

I had 4 kids by the time I was 27. I would never judge anyone who decides they don’t want kids.
These days it’s scary to bring kids up in this world.

I think the world has always been a scary place, we're just more informed on what goes on because of the internet and social media. That stuff was happening back in the day we just didn't know about it. There was A LOT of stuff that the local news and newspapers didn't report on.

That's probably true for the most part; one "new" thing these days that is hitting home right now though is the outbreak of senseless 'school shootings'. I think because there was one of those in the Seattle area today. When I was in hi-school the kids, mostly if not all boys, could carry their rifles in the gun rack in their pickups in the school parking lot & no one thought anything of it. (and for some reason, the gun was still there after school when the student went back to his pickup)
Now, if an elementary student makes a gun-shape out of a peanut-butter sandwich he's in big trouble.

And that's the beauty of life. The pain and suffering is what completes a person. What's the point of living if it's not going though conflict? Why should the story be easy?

Not sure if I agree or disagree with that; but what an amazingly unique outlook.

Personally, I'd prefer to live a life without suffering and conflict. However suffering and conflict tends to find me no matter how much I try to avoid it.

It's just ridiculous for people to worry about the lives of others or feel the need to dictate when a person should have children or if they should.

It is but its so common almost everyone can relate to being pressured to have kids or get married.

I'm at the point in my life where pregnancy would be considered geriatric. I already have a lot of gynecological issues going on and have surgery in July to get rid of some things. On top of that, I've never had the desire to bear children. I think I'm just missing that part. So screw what people say about having kids before a certain age. If you want them and can afford them, fine. If you don't, great. Probably best we don't bring too many more children into the world anyway. There's plenty who need families who are already here.

@ZandraJoi

Same. What I dont understand is those who say that you are selfish for NOT having kids.. I have heard that all my life..

And its not that I swore off kids, I've just been busy.. If I have a kid it'll be when I see fit and not when others dictate.

Those that said that to me weren't exactly in a great place themselves, and knowing that to be the case, had kids of their own and they all suffered and have issues to this day and aren't speaking to each other..

And yet, I am the selfish one?
