I've smoked weed over the last few years, although the last two times have caused me to feel really panicky. Originally, I smoked it and never really suffered from it. Last year, I smoked and had a panic attack that put me off it until last night, where I decided to smoke again. I left the party early because I started to feel off again, and very panicked again. Wasn't fun.

It common for some people to get panic attacks, not everyone can handle it. But usually this happens to people when they first start smoking weed because they aren't use to the effects and panic too much, when really nothing that bad can happen. You can get an extremely dry mouth which I've got many times. I still do get a dry mouth just from smoking, its what happens when i smoke. But you need to let yourself know that nothing will happen when you are on marrijuana, you will not die from it, and that is people's thoughts when they first smoke they are like my mouth is so dry or I'm too high i'm going to die, which isn't the case your just overthinking things which makes it worse and if you cannot handle the effects you shouldn't smoke it. because some people just can't smoke it without getting panic attacks.

Considerably. It's just odd for me because I expected to experience this more so when I first started smoking it. Nothing quite as bad as that came up until last year when I smoked it, and just basically freaked out. This was after a few years of smoking it, and not suffering any issues. Last year, I was drinking at the same time then though, and that's a big no-no, and was highly stupid of me.. I think last time, I began to panic because of that mess from the previous time that it had happened, and thought it would happen again - so while I never had a direct panic attack, I certainly did start to worry. Last few nights, I've been passing on it - certainly not worth the hassle right now.
I even panic sometimes if the weed is crazy good..and I'm high as f*ck haha. but I always let myself know that ill be okay and afterwords everything is okay.

I think for a while, I'm gonna stay off it. Maybe in a few more weeks.
If I'm going to make an ass of myself, I'd rather do it through alcohol. :D

Dopeless in Seattle: legalised cannabis prompts pot shortage
Washington today becomes the second US state after Colorado to open recreational cannabis shops – but a pot shortage awaits

DENVER (AP) — Officials at some Denver homeless shelters say the legalization of marijuana has contributed to an increase in the number of younger people living on the city's streets.

One organization dealing with the increase is Urban Peak, which provides food, shelter and other services to homeless people aged 15 to 24 in Denver and Colorado Springs.

"Of the new kids we're seeing, the majority are saying they're here because of the weed," deputy director Kendall Rames told The Denver Post (http://dpo.st/1l1vQER ). "They're traveling through. It is very unfortunate."

The Salvation Army's single men's shelter in Denver has been serving more homeless this summer, and officials have noted an increase in the number of 18- to 25-year-olds there.

The shelter housed an average of 225 each night last summer, but this summer it's averaging 300 people per night. No breakdown was available by age, but an informal survey found that about a quarter of the increase was related to marijuana, including people who moved hoping to find work in the marijuana industry, said Murray Flagg, divisional social services secretary for the Salvation Army's Intermountain Division.

Some of the homeless have felony backgrounds that prevent them from working in pot shops and grow houses, which are regulated by the state, Flagg said. He also thinks others may find work but don't earn enough to pay rent in Denver's expensive housing market.

Can we quit pretending now that the Medical Marijuana stuff is solely about compassion for the sick?

4 Sept

In Redman’s latest rap video, pot runs through the storyline. Things kick off with an Obama impersonator holding a press conference to declare that smoking dope is much better for you than drinking alcohol. Later, women wearing pasties on their boobs twerk over mounds of bud.

Weed has been a staple of rap for years, and this seems like just more of the same. But there’s one big difference: It’s actually a paid advertisement for pot.

Marijuana is now legal in 23 states and the District of Columbia for a broad range of medical uses, which is great news for people suffering from maladies that can be helped with a little toke. But for potrepreneurs, it means stiff competition. California alone has more than 1,000 dispensaries.

To try to separate itself from the pack, Caviar Gold has enlisted a handful of rappers to help pump up the popularity of its weed. In addition to Redman, who has five gold or platinum albums, Dr. Zodiak, Kurupt (a former member of Dr. Dre’s crew) and King Lil G are also featured in music videos touting Caviar Gold’s potency.

This is the logical conclusion of the sequence of events.

DENVER — Colorado opened up a new frontier in January when voters approved the recreational use of marijuana.

Since then, it’s led to new jobs in the industry and tens of millions of dollars in tax revenue for the state and cities where it’s sold.

Now, we’re seeing the entertainment industry come calling.

About 200 people came out to audition for a new web reality show in Denver Saturday.

The director of the project calls “The Marijuana Show” The Apprentice meets Shark Tank — if the sharks were dolphins.

Nascar driver Tony Stewart will not face charges for fatally striking fellow driver Kevin Ward Jr during a race, prosecutors have said.

A New York grand jury declined to charge Stewart on Wednesday after hearing evidence in the case.

Ward, 20, was killed in August when he exited his vehicle in the middle of a race and was struck by Mr Stewart.

Prosecutors said two videos of the incident showed "no aberrational driving " by Mr Stewart.

And Ward was under the influence of marijuana the night of the accident "enough to impair judgment", according to Ontario County District Attorney Michael Tantillo.

Mr Stewart, 43, a three-time Nascar champion, has said the incident was "the toughest and most emotional experience of my life, and it will stay with me forever".

"While much of the attention has been on me, it's important to remember a young man lost his life. Kevin Ward Jr's family and friends will always be in my thoughts and prayers," he said in a statement.

I've smoked marijuana a few times over the years, didn't really care for it one way or the other...and I still don't see why its' such a big deal; if someone wants to light up a little reefer, what's it to you?

I've been looking up Marijuana recently.

I've seen alot of Americans using it to help they're tremor. I've heard mixed oppinions on if it does actually help. I'm now on my 3rd and 4th drugs, starting to run out of options apart from brain surgery.

And then there is the pain I am suffering on a daily basis with my back, which is a permanent problem. Popping Tramadol pills (150mgs) every 4 hours on a bad day, usually go through about 6 a day on a good day.

From what I can gather it's extremely hard to get Weed from the pain clinics in the UK.

Ask Mr. Stewart that sometime.

And your point is?

Tony Stewart has to live with the fact that he was directly involved in the death of another driver.

The knowledge that the other driver thought his best possible course of action was to get high before the race is probably of no comfort.

All drivers are told that if they are in an accident and the car IS NOT on fire, to stay in the damned thing until the safety crew arrives.

If Ward had been in full control of himself, he probably would not have jumped out and tried to 'make a point' with another driver in a moving car.

So, just like drinking, or whatever, your getting stoned is your own business, if you stay home and do it. NOT when you go out and possibly endanger yourself or others.

HUMBOLDT COUNTY (KPIX 5) — State drug agents told KPIX 5 the number of pot plants growing in California has doubled in the past five years. Marijuana is by far the state’s number one cash crop.

Much of it is growing in the mountains of Humboldt County, where pot has always been big business. But it really took off after the state legalized medical marijuana. Now many are taking advantage and cashing in on California cannabis.

Detective Chandler Baird of the Humboldt County Sheriff showed KPIX 5 how growers are clear-cutting 100 year old redwoods, leveling hills and sucking dry rivers that are already stricken by drought. Not to mention the violence.

“We do come across a lot of firearms, we have deputies that have gotten into shootings before in these grows,” said Baird. “Some of the ones I have shown you today are definitely known drug trafficking organizations.”

So who are these new gold diggers? Where do they come from? “All 50 states, Latin America, Asia, Bulgaria,” said Baird.

We asked, why Bulgaria? “There’s a lot of money to be made in marijuana,” said Baird.” It’s a modern day green rush.”

And that will weigh on him for the rest of his life but it still has no bearing on the overall issue of marijuana, Doc.

Apparently you are still missing the point.
.... .... .... Intentionally?

anyway

The State's Attorney, as well as the sanctioning body, and others agree that if Ward had not been high thereby voluntarily impairing his judgement, he would have likely NOT gotten out of the car after the accident and put himself in harm's way. Thereby contributing substantially to the circumstances of his own death

Halloweed? Denver Police Warn About Pot-Infused Candy

20 Oct

The Denver Police Department is warning parents to keep an eye out for marijuana-laced candy in their children's trick-or-treat hauls this Halloween to ensure the only buzz the kids get is a sugar high. The department posted a video on their Facebook page featuring Patrick Johnson, the owner of a Denver marijuana shop called Urban Dispensary.

Johnson explains that pot-infused treats are often just mass-produced candy that's been sprayed with hash oil. "Once that candy dries, there's really no way to tell the difference between infused candy and candy that’s not infused,” Johnson said in the video. Johnson and the Denver Police Department urge parents to inspect any candy their trick-or-treaters bring home to make sure it's in original packaging that hasn't been tampered with.

Some pointed out in comments on the Facebook post of the video that marijuana edibles are expensive, and therefore unlikely to be given out for Halloween. But that might not stop a motivated or a careless person, a Cannabist article argued. "Since 2005, states that allow some form of legal marijuana have seen a 30 percent annual increase in calls to poison control centers for marijuana ingestion," according to Children's Hospital Colorado.

more death happens on a nascar race track when people are sober than otherwise...

just because one clown says the guy was high on weed doesn't make it true...

and even if he was high on weed, what makes you think the weed had anything to do with what he did, but of course people will say that oh "if he wasn't high he wouldn't have done that"... well, how do you know if it was the weed and not his stupidity? stupidity in some are strong...

...so much for the idea that smoking reefer causes lung cancer...
Among the potential health risks associated with smoking marijuana, lung cancer has remained, by and large, at the top of the chronic toker’s concern list for many years. This unrest is mostly due to speculation surrounding the idea that regular marijuana smokers are in danger of suffering the same hazardous perils as long-term users of tobacco. A new study says this is not true.

A new study published in the latest edition of the International Journal of Cancer finds habitual pot smokers are at no greater risk of being inflicted with lung cancer than part-time stoners or even people who don’t smoke at all.

To make this determination, a team of researchers from the United States, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom set out to explore the records of several studies involving 5,000 participants. What they found was despite the tales of cannabis smoke causing lung cancer, there appeared to be very little reason to suspect weed use led to a greater threat of this disease.

“Results from our pooled analyses provide little evidence for an increased risk of lung cancer among habitual or long-term cannabis smokers,” wrote the study authors.

Incidentally, these findings are consistent with another study published last year in the scientific journal Annals of the American Thoracic Society, which found that while smoking marijuana could lead to an increased risk of chronic bronchitis, it did not lead to lung cancer.

"[H]abitual use of marijuana alone does not appear to lead to significant abnormalities in lung function," wrote lead study author, Dr. Donald Tashkin. "[F]indings from a limited number of well-designed epidemiological studies do not suggest an increased risk of either lung or upper airway cancer from light or moderate use. ... Overall, the risks of pulmonary complications of regular use of marijuana appear to be relatively small and far lower than those of tobacco smoking."

In an accompanying commentary regarding Tashkin’s study, Dr. Mark Ware, with McGill University wrote, “[C]annabis smoking does not seem to increase risk of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or airway cancers…Efforts to develop cleaner cannabinoid delivery systems can and should continue, but at least for now, [those] who smoke small amounts of cannabis for medical or recreational purposes can breathe a little bit easier."(High Times)

Here's information about the study in question if anyone wants to read it...

I don't know how governments can make a natural plant illegal yet a drug like alcohol which is created with all sorts of crap is legal and ok. Alcohol causes so many more problems, especially socially, so the logic around banning it completely baffles me! It is good to see some places around the world seeing the light and relaxing their laws against weed and the rest should follow.

Nothing wrong with a little toke :tup
