It's like you become someone else's property having their name. Nope not for me.
Maybe that's the reason, but my son is married with two children and his wife kept her name and they agreed that the kids would take his name. There doesn't seem to be any confusion for them.Well some people do it just so their family unit can all have the same last name. Husband, wife and however many children they have all have one last name. They can be referred to as the <insert last name> family. Promotes a sense of solidarity in a family unit I suppose. Also avoids confusing situations.

No that won't happen because she teaches at the school where the girls goMe thinks mom might run into extra questions and maybe being asked to prove who she is when picking her children up from school or from activities in the future since she has a different last name, but thats not really a huge deal.

Yes Name changes does tend to make things a bit of a hassle, and they wont accept laminated Birth certificates either, I lost my DL and ended up getting mine renewed since i was within the 1 year mark before it expires. I see why this crap happens but at the same time its such a pain in the ass i mean what they think you are gonna go renew a dead persons DL? lol theirs so much red tape not really that easy, but what do i know I just work, pay taxes, like most of everyone so meh.Me too.
But...hindsight.
I have been married three times; thus, four different last names. Before the Covid thing, I decided to go ahead and get the state enhanced drivers license....in the event of simplifying travel to Canada and/or Mexico.
You would not believe the HOOPS! They wanted documents of all of the marriage licenses and divorce decrees. And would not accept the copy I had of the current marriage license issued and legally stamped by the judge because that county had changed their form to a more computer-friendly version.
At that point I somehow managed to hold in my internal explosion, but just said something like, "Dang! It would be easier to get a bloomin' passport!" The clerk to my surprise agreed.
So, that's what I did & it was entirely easy.....basically get your picture taken & pay your $$.
And the point being....if I had known how screwed up the legal system can be, I would have just simply kept my maiden name. It was the name changes that "got" me there.![]()
We are planning on it, but no rush. Next year is 18 years for us.I'd ask what her name is but I don't want to doxx anyone. Are you guys going to get married soon?
And yes you have to Hold on to your Marriage Certificate with your life or any document because of all of the BS to get replaced is unreal. Whats a pain is changing everything back again DL, SS Card, If you own a house "Which I do" all of the different Credit card/loan companies etc. UGH not willing to go through all of that BLAHMe too.
