Who here uses the Mass Email feature? I only use it to send out notices on new contests, or major updates. I rarely use it and have only sent out 2 or 3 emails.

I've only had to send one out in my life. =/ That was the only time I would ever do it as I got complaints left right and center.

I usually only use ours for Newsletters, major updates, Holiday wishes, and that sort of stuff.

Just for major updates. Spamming people's inbox is hardly going to make them want to be active.

It is really only useful when having contests or opening/reopening a forum or website.

I only use ours when we send out monthly newsletters. The only other time I would use it is if there was a problem that had been going on far too long and it needed to quit like now, then I would send out the email as a sort of a warning to ask members to please stop what it is we're doing. As for Newsletters, we have a Newsletter mod installed, which makes it a lot easier on me with monthly newsletters, as I don't have to go into the ACP all the time just to send out a newsletter. Back in the early days of trying to own a forum, I used to be really bad about this. I would send out so-called updates a lot! It was crazy. That was actually one of my favorite features on Zetaboards, because once you sent out an email, and if you tried sending another one, they would give you a notice that you can't send out another email for so many days. Now it's gotten better and I only send out emails once a month.

When i had a forum i used it rarely. I hate it when people email me constantly, most of the time is WE ARE BACK, WE ARE CLOSED, WE MISS YOU.

I use it more or less the same way Cranos does it. I have an update? I'll let people know about it.

I hate those, WE MISS YOU emails. What if I only joined the forum out of sheer interest but I no longer have interest in it? They can't make me come back. I will go back when I feel like it. 9 times out of ten they usually get deleted anyways. The only time I don't mind getting a WE MISS YOU email is if it's a site I was fairly active on but had totally forgotten about in the long run.

I only do mass-mailing to all members of my forum if I have major updates or announcements to declare. Although, I have sent bulk mail just to get everyone back but sometimes I think of something to back it up, to ensure that the majority of the inactive members will return.

Nevermind who sends them......

(not counting spam)

Who READS the damned things that others send out?

I read it if the forum interests me enough.

I have only sent out one myself, but it's always wonderful to get newsletters from other forums! It's a lot of joy reading them, and my activity is spotty so it's very nice to be updated on all the latest information. I really hope that in the long run owners don't get discouraged from doing these, haha. n.n This is the great majority of emails I usually get from forums.

I send them out for major updates. or every 2 months with the winner of the battle of the bands.

I used to send them regulary and members got really pissed off!

The Mass Email thing is something that can be utilized for numerous things, to (every once in awhile!) inform members of a new contest they're doing, which only works if you don't have contests every other week or if the site's activity is beginning to plummet inform some of the inactive members about some of the things that are occurring. I was a part of this E-Fed where basically they wrote professional wrestling matches and developed characters among other things, but I didn't stick around for too long because I didn't believe I'd have a future with it, and they would message me almost everyday to inform me of some contest they're doing, their 10th Show or One Month Anniversary or even whenever a championship changes hands. I could always log onto my account and change my email or have my account deleted however, I don't want to take the time to do that.

I don't like mass emails in my own inbox so I wouldn't clutter

anyone else's with them. To be honest, I don't see the need

for them. If I'm on a forum regularly, I can read announcements

or there is the PM feature which I think is far more convenient

as I'm on the forum already.

Mass Emails aren't just for people that post regularly, it's for people that have been away for awhile to know that something new has happened and thus perhaps inspire for them to comeback.

I try to avoid sending them as much as possible, but I do send them on occasion. For example; when there's a competition taking place or a major new feature has been added.

I only use it if I absolutly have to. If i need to get members too remember that the board exists. I don't like it too much to be honest.
