Muslim protestors chant 'death to America, death to Israel' at rally in Michigan's Dearborn after city was branded 'Jihad capital' of the U.S by WSJ

This is what happens when you let a bunch of whiny babies go on Twitter and support Hamas.

America is no longer the America we all grew up with. I feel like things such as this is what makes governments eventually take people's freedoms away.

What do you mean it's not the America we grew up with? It's always been a sham. Veiled and portrayed as a land of freedom and prosperity, equality for all. We know that's not true. As much as this sucks, I really don't blame some of these people for wanting to burn this country to the ground. Our government has the blood of many countries on its hands.

Tell that to every person that's ever fought, bled and died for this country, Dee, from the American Revolution to the present day.

Tell that to every person prior to the Civil War who helped with the Underground Ground, both north to Canada and south to Mexico.
Tell that to the Freedom Summer civil rights workers who fought to expand voting rights to black Americans across the South.
Tell that to Martin Luther King, Jr., Bayard Rustin and every other civil rights leader who fought & bled to fulfill the words of the Declaration of Independence.

Yes, America's not a perfect country but seriously, @Dee, tell me another country that's tried to do the same thing.
Go on, we'll wait.

It's not a sham. It is based on ideals that are not possible for humanity but it has gotten closer than any other country to freedom and equality. It will never be perfect but we can and always should strive towards those ideals set from the start.

What you say is true but the blood on our hands isn't due to a fundamental flaw in our founding ideals/documents. Our blood in modern history has been due to the government not adhering to the constitution. We have TONS of unconstitutional institutes such as the CIA, FBI, etc and the constitution is stomped on all over.

When you look at the history of humanity, Neo, you quickly come to realize that America is the exception to the rule that most countries have lived under.
Does that mean we're perfect? Nope. But I'd rather live here than most any other country.

For one, you say it's not a sham.

And then you proceed to admit it's true.

I Dont Care Whatever GIF

I would indeed. I do not have hesitations when saying a good chunk of the wars we've been involved in were for greed/profit, power/control, plain and simple. Plenty of other vets would agree with me. Just because some wouldn't doesn't make it untrue.

My dad is a Vietnam vet and fucking hates our government and the military. He said he would disown my brother if he enlisted and I'd feel the same way.

Two different things you were talking about. I could see being upset about the wars and nonsense but that isn't because the constitution allows for that. It isn't due to the founding principles.

Everyone has an opinion and their right to it.
Something decidedly absent in other Western countries unfortunately (and increasingly in certain parts of the U.S. - like say Portland and Seattle).

There's absolutely nothing wrong with criticizing your government. It can and should absolutely happen more often.

There's just some people in this country who won't be happy until they move in next door to Pugsley.

Is that the only response you have for someone who is critical of their government? It's always black and white with you people. The hypocrisy and lack of creativity is astounding. Please at least give me something to work with.

From your statement, it would see there is plenty of hypocrisy to go around.

This! Sadly, you get flagged these days if you even have anything against the establishment.
I think our government works in some ways and does not work in others, but the moment someone criticizes even one thing, it's: "Well, why don't you leave then!?"

M'okay. Spectacular argument. Please give me something of more substance to work with here.

I know that; the point I was making, Dee, was that its' one thing to slag the government for this and that; everyone does that.
Its quite another to say your country's evil because of events you or I had nothing whatsoever to do with and wished hadn't happened.
