Reputation on forums!

On here all the reactions will give you a +1 to your score except 'Disagree' which is a neutral +0 rating, it doesn't add or take away from the score.
That's exactly how it should be, IMO. None of the skewed scales of the old rep systems.

If you did remember you could have your accounts merged so you wouldn't look like a new member anymore. :p
Highly doubt my account from then was very good much like how my OG account was on Wober. I probably posted dumb stuff and did dumb things.

You could have your posts deleted and merge accounts just to get the older Join-date. Just like we did here. :P

I've seen it used as a weapon pretty bad on some forums way back in the day. I remember one forum had a system in place where if a member got enough negative reps, they would automatically be banned from the forum. People would team up and neg bomb a targeted member until they were banned.
Seriously? That's just plain ridiculous. It's basically an equivalent of a high school popularity contest with a twist. If you're unpopular, you get kicked out of school.

It's all because of the traffic and ad revenue. Throwing one lamb to the wolves is acceptable since the wolves pack is going to continue to increase in size and generate that sweet, sweet revenue by clicking on ads. The fact it eventually comes back to bite the owners' asses doesn't concern anyone. They just milk the cow until she dries up. I guess that's capitalism at its finest.

And that's how awful sites like 4chan, 8chan and Kiwi Farms come into existence.

Yeah the early days of forums were like the Wild Wild West. People had all sorts of creative ways to manage a forum back then.

Yes, and the most popular solution was to pull rank at the first sign of disagreement and threaten with banishment if the unlike-minded individuals didn't comply, followed by a temp-ban, and eventually a permanent ban. Pathetic.
