Slavery

so, how does a "thug" dress?

i've never seen anyone, let alone a black person wear their pants to their knees...

it's a fact that the poor commit the most crimes and get caught...

most american poor people are blacks...

you also need to understand just because people that are not black don't get caught don't mean they are law abiding citizens... in these days, it's a crime to do anything pretty much, and if a cop don't like you then he'll just make something up and take you to jail... there's a lot of racist pigs in america, and they make it a point to harass and punish the blacks just because they don't like them...

So what and even if true it matters not.

most american poor people are blacks...

Percentage wise yes. But if you take the actual numbers of people in poverty status not so much. But again so what?

A weak excuse. People are scared because a unusual high amount of the black community commits the violent crimes.

Blacks who commit homicide do so at a rate about 7.5 times larger than whites who commit homicide. The trend in black homicide correlates well with the change in overall homicide. This disparity also exists for other crimes: blacks commit them at about 7-10 times the rates of whites.

One thing is more or less constant: the rates for Black killers are much higher than for White killers, as this picture which shows the ratio of rates demonstrates:

Rates bob around, but average out to about 7.5 times higher.

Perhaps the difference lies in who is killing whom. Lumping all the Black and White homicides together, here are the percentages of Blacks killing Whites and White killing Blacks:

um, i've lived in florida all my life and been around the whole state and seen it all, my point was you exaggerate by saying people wear their pants at their knees... not just black people dress in that fashion and not all people that low-ride are thugs or criminals... you're just falsely stereotyping and assuming, in which when you assume a lot you're most likely wrong a lot...

it's a fact that the poor commit the most crimes and get caught...

it does matter, because the oppression and the harassment that the blacks receive...

it's not an excuse let alone a weak excuse at all, it's the truth... people are scared? why would everyone be scared of just the blacks when everyone kills? why don't you find out which race commits the most child rape or serial killings in america? wont be the blacks...

They should hold resentment toward the fact that many of them still get singled out for the color of their skin.  After all, the generation of young black people now did not go through slavery, but the effects of it are still widely present in very different and subtle ways that much of the country fails to ignore or even understand/learn.  We know racism still exists.  We've seen it in several different situations, we hear about it in broadcasts on public radio, we watch movies with racism in them, etc.  And until we as an entire country, black, white, latino, whatever you are, work together to eradicate racism and the reason why it still exists today then you better bet your ass they're going to have something to resent white people for.

There is a big difference between racism and profiling a person for singling out. And when the black community commits 45% of the crimes in America and are 13% of the population yes people are going to single out the guy who is dressed like a thug with pants hanging down to his knees. Otherwise in todays America a small percentage of blacks and whites are equally racist. This is not a problem with Americans no matter how hard obama tries to make a burning match a forest fire.

Why are these crimes committed, though?  Has anyone ever determined the cause for the majority of these crimes?  What kind of crimes are being committed?  Is it a lack of education?  A lack of ability to find a job (for whatever reason)?  Is it nature vs. nurture?  Are black people just wild animals who don't know better than to kill and steal? Why is that? Are their brains different than whites or Asians or hispanics, Latinos, etc? There has to be an answer.  Not ever black person is a criminal, but when your race is constantly portrayed as one it seems to me a very legitimate reason to act as you're being treated.  Because, honestly, what's the point when your race is still treated like a second (or third) class citizen?  I like to get down to the nitty gritty instead of just throwing around numbers.  Numbers don't prove anything to me.  Patterns exist for a reason and that explanation could help to identify underlying issues that aren't being addressed.  Until you can provide more information for me about why those numbers are what they are, they don't mean anything to me.

you don't know who those people are, how can someone claim or assume that they are criminals just because they low-ride? it's clothes, not skin, go to any beach and you'll see everyone showing skin...

most real big crooks are dressed classy and professional in suits and dresses...

That's pretty true. I know plenty of people in suits who are thieves, liars, abusers, manipulators, murderers, etc.

No I do not think they are wild animals or does it have anything to do with brains being different. It's decades of being treated nothing more then a vote to give freebies to for that loyalty. Decades of being spoon fed welfare when the slightest hardship hits. Decades of sapping the will to do anything with there lives. Decades of of no family structure, not teaching values and principles. Decades of being told killing tens of millions of there unborn children is a natural and good thing to do.The very soul of the black community has been sapped from them by our very own liberal government under the guise of help.

I am sure you have seen this before but it is a good short video explaining what has happened.

yeah, racism has nothing to do with them being held down?

and there were no issues of employers hiring blacks in this country...

there's as much "family" structure, values and principles in the black community than any other race...

black people lost their will mostly due to them dealing with the constant racism and unfairness that the whites gave them...

yet there are many successful black people, even one became president, so it could also be said that people can use excuses to justify not getting off their asses and making their own lives better.

it can be easier to sit around and bitch about all the things one does not have, rather then putting the effort into making things better.

true, but we are talking about history, not today or even a decade ago...

in today's world, it's not easy for any white or black kid to be successful if they were born and raised in poverty... the ones that seem to be complaining about the black community are the ones that were born and raised in good communities and in the middle class and upper class...

well, for one we weren't talking about present day, now were we?

we are talking about why, in the past, the many reasons why the blacks weren't as successful as whites... and if you fail to realize that it was do to the oppression of blacks by whites then you need a history lesson...

and saying racism does no exist today in the world and especially in america then you're ignorant to the fullest...

Nonsense! Blacks themselves in poor communities are complaining about the decline of the black community and do not blame whites for there sorrows.

I am talking present day. Hell I am talking the last 30 years.

No one saying racism does not exist. It exists on both sides but to say it is a problem in todays society where most Americans do not see color but the individual and how they act.

This topic made me think of a incident yesterday. Had to go to a gated community where I had to be let in through the gate. I call the resident and he says he will have to meet me at the gate to let me in. I am expecting a car to come through the gate and be let in with his remote. I wait a few minutes and I see a huge muscular black man jogging towards me and stops at my window and I roll down the window and he immediately says can I get a ride back. My first thought was not this is a black man asking for a ride but thinking who in the hell is this guy asking for a ride in my van. But then it hits me soon after this thought that this is the resident who is going to meet me to let me in.

So point is in todays America people see the person not the color. But with the racial divide people like obama and sharpton they want Americans to see color instead of the individual.
